Player Watch #32: Toby Pink - has signed a one-year deal until end of 2026

Wish him well, yet again only gets a 12 month contract and accepts it . So that suggests no other club showed any interest. Importantly they have had a couple of seasons to cast an eye over Toby's catalogue of work.

So i do wonder what the issue is that sees him unloved across the AFL.
You seem surprised someone delisted twice had no interest elsewhere?

No, but I am very interested in why we offer him 12 month deals, when others get given the world.
And I'm not engaging in over the top behaviors anymore from either side of the fence. Better things to do.
Toby at times last season played quite well, and at times rather shit.
As I'm backing in the raft of coaching changes, I expect this to benefit not only Toby but the whole squad. A better set up should see less pressure in our backline, which should mean it's easier for that lot.

I'll say it again, we're better than 16th. It has to be down to our set up and strategy, and probably the guys in the backline lol

Daniel, Corr, Logue, Comben- yuck collectively

McDonald Logue Pink Hardeman Comben Goater Archer and Corr over Daniel nee Dinkers.

Will play every game of 2026 if healthy, and I fully anticipate a contract extension to be signed mid-year.

Hope so. Seems to always be on the outer despite being our best performed KPD.

Yup.

And that's not likely to change in 2026 either. My (personal/subjective) thoughts on how our 2026 KPD stocks are looking
  • Corr - will be 32. His best is solidly behind him.
  • Logue - fitness and conditioning concerns. Hasn't been the same following his major injury. Can he bounce back?
  • Comben - plays a different type of KPD to Pink/Corr/Logue. Has never been a good 1-on-1 defender. Injury/durability concerns
  • Whitlock - still young. still skinny. Bright future but probably not 'ready' to be a #1 KPD yet.
  • Wil Dawson - somehow only 5 months older than Whitlock. Also still skinny. Not likely to be pushing into the AFL side consistently in 2026 IMHO
  • Pink - had the highest votes-per-game average in the Syd Barker out of all KPDs in 2025. Has never missed a game to injury.

Exactly how i see it.

We have 'false depth' in KPDs imo. As in on any given match day we have on average 1 mature body ready and available to do a purely defensive job.

Can Charlie Spargo play KPD?

I see you have placed your wilphi hex on pink -poor guy

Why is it you love to follow me around and comment or 'thumbs down' all my posts?

Dude, I'm just not that into you. Chill.

Based on Zac Banch playing CHF, it's a resounding YES.
We should have a weekly Banch/Spargo Bingo card.

How many +40 metre kicks from the backline can be dropped on their head with 3 opposition players within 2 meters of the contest?

2nd Bingo Card. How many “going left, going right, hang on, left again” kicking options by Caleb Daniel in a match?

Every side out there needs a Pink.

1. Solid role player.
2. Gets the most out of his talent.
3. Hard worker and trainer.
4. Does not shirk a contest.
5. Not injury prone like some of his team mates down back.
6. Popular clubman and one of the fan’s favorites.
7. Great perseverance story in that not everyone makes it as an 18 year old in the AFL.

If everyone on our list ticked all the other boxes like Pinky does, we would not be stuck at the bottom of the ladder for so many years.
