That level of pace from Sparrow surprised me for sure. I know he wasn’t a plodder but I had no idea he was such a good sprinter like that.

Midfielder/forward, all over him. Inside mid, Wing, Half forward.

There’s so much to like about it. The attack on the footy, the use of his legs to run through a pack and find space to give a handball to the outside (something Oliver, Gus, Viney and co definitely weren’t doing in their fourth year) and then the follow up work, all incredible.

Also with JJ kicking it to that pack for Sparrow to crumb it in the first instance it’s another classic ‘Fridge and Freezer’ play

13 touches, 1 tackle and 0 clearances. I probably shouldn't be so hard on him. Only bloke who played to his usual level in a team of guys who let themselves down.

Not offering anything - doesn't seem to have any good forward traits besides being a long kick; not involved enough in the midfield. JJ at least has a big engine and can link up a bit, or play a defensive role. Could use a spell at Casey to get his hands on it.

He's amazing at putting his head in a contest and doing a Todd Viney hairflip afterwards though. So many of our fans love this bloke because he looks the part but I just don't see the football ability.

Yeah he's certainly got the build for the midfield, but just wafts through. I get with Trac/Clarry/Vines he'll always be at least 4th or 5th in line for a ball but never seems to find himself in a spot to receive the ball unless its in a contest.

My issue with Sparrow is he doesn’t even seem to be developing at all. Just runs around like a headless chook most matches. He should be exponentially getting better at this phase in his career but Goodwin seems happy giving him a run with his standard 12 touches and 1 tackle week on week.

Sent him back to Casey to find some form. Has this bloke ever once cracked 20 disposals in a match because he bloody should be as an inside mid in the guts where the ball is.

Headless chook would be best described Sparrow. No idea what he offers at this present moment other then having a good rig.

Drafting elite junior midfield talent should be number 1 priority for the up and coming draft.

Honestly I think we'd be getting as much value out of Dunstan at this stage. He gets more possessions and his disposal is no worse.

And that is fine to play sparrow over dunstan but he has to show signs of developing. Dunstan surely is the better current player.

Can someone please explain the point of Tom Sparrow

He reminds Goody of the son he always wished he had and to annoy supporters.

Goody isn't the only one who thinks the sun shines out of his ass, I dont think ive ever seen a more average player talked up by a playing group so much in my life. Hes pretty much a poor man's Vanders

The lack of tackles is really galling. Give JJ his spot until he lifts his pressure.

Surely at this point Sparrow would learn and develop much better going back to the VFL and being the main man in the midfield. He's an out and out midfielder who has had two straight years of playing half forward and getting 10-14 touches a game.

I don't think it's that surprising that players like Jordon and Laurie who have nowhere near the attributes Sparrow have gone or about about to go past him.

Sparrow is a mid who can't win contests or ground balls, so he's next to useless in that role. the only blokes in the team who average less ground ball gets than Sparrow are Tomlinson, Melksham, and Spargo. even Ben Brown

averages more ground ball gets than him lol, and Sparrow is supposed to be a big strong ball winner? yeah right, Jake Bowey averages more contested possessions than this bloke, that's how much of a pretender he is.
he doesn't kick goals when forward, or set any up either, so he's useless up there as well. he's just a nothing player imo.
