With the articles flying around at the moment looks like Clokey will be elsewhere next season. I guess footy is a business these days and these are the realities. It's interesting that Eade mentioned how off field things can distract Travis. And "industry sources" say a second or third round straight swap would be fair.
I suppose you're right, we should have traded Stubbs, Farmer and Young

Pick 10 ten (Freeman) for Adams. Likely Grundy would have slid another pick because west coast don't need a ruck and not pick up Kennedy and not go for Greenwood.
Does it really matter? I wasn't even on bigfooty at the first two trade periods.Did you say that at the time?
They never do, it's always 3 years after the eventDid you say that at the time?

It kinda does matter because otherwise youre just making shit up with hindsight.
All this because the word 'rebuild' was used.
F****** lol
Maybe if we had the wisdom of some of the glib blabbermouths and miserable twats on here we might have been spared. Alas for some peculiar reason the wisdom always arrives late.
Buckley wisely and correctly determined that our list in 2010/11/12 (which started its run in 2007) was not going to win us another flag. So in 2013 he started to trade players to try and ensure our dip was not too deep. Not an easy thing to do and not successful yet but if 12th is the lowest we go then at least thats a start.
Call the strategy what you will. Rebuild. Mini Rebuild. Reality. Business As Usual Turnover. Whatever want to call it. It doesnt matter really. He was right to recognise some premiership players did not have a future at Collingwood.
I'm using hindsight just not making shit up.
same same
They were also FAs or out of contract. I'd like us to push for a 2nd rounder. Anything in the 40s would piss me off.It will be a stretch to get a second round pick for him.
When you look at established key position players who have traded at age 30 in recent years Chris Tarrant (Tarrant and 44 for 43 and 55) and Brian Lake (lake and 27 for 21 and 41) spring to mind. They basically went for scraps, and they went to clubs in the premiership window who had an immediate need.
And they had better form than Cloke.

I'm not sure how that's relevant given his contract says he'll be on $400k next year.I'm not sure him being in contract gives Colllingwood any negotiating strength given he is being paid 800k to play VFL
I don't think we are going to get a very good trade with Cloke. Since his father stitched us up over this 5 year deal I reckon we should hang onto Cloke. We can't be paying any of his contract out, getting a crap pick for him and then having him star at another club. It would be too much to bare. Since we got stitched up in the d al he should be made to stay and given the riot act. Perform and perform well and you will be given a contract extension. It's time to pay the club back imoI'm not sure how that's relevant given his contract says he'll be on $400k next year.
Why force him? That never worked and won't motivate him a bit. The guy is immune even to VFL drops. Next year we are getting less for him and I don't want a 400K VFL player thank you. If he wants to go out or can get better somewhere else, we should let him.I don't think we are going to get a very good trade with Cloke. That's fair enough. But how much of his salary would we gave to pay out to trade him?Why force him? That never worked and won't motivate him a bit. The guy is immune even to VFL drops. I don't see why we should give anything to other clubs for him but if we can 'buy' a pick 25 -30 with it I guess we can throw some coin at it. Not sure how much a pick 30 is worth nowadays. That's fair enough. But how much of his salary would we gave to pay out to trade him?
