Don't forgot all our round 2 pick plus the tips round 2 prob becomes a top 15 pick if we can trace with gc... which would never have been likely with 1 round 2 pick...

If you use Larkey, McKay, Petrie, Browb and Tarrant, who are probably our best talls in the last 20 years, 2-3 years is how long it takes for them to look as comfortable as this kid did today.

He is such an exciting talent, I think they may have just nailed this pick and fast tracked our rebuild by a year - a developed tall in 3 years time when we are playing at the business end.

I enjoyed the penetration he got on his kicking and general skill, but he still looks like a twig. Can't see much, if any, senior game-time this year. He would get absolutely murdered by any remotely decent key forward

Thursfield or Rawlings said during the commentary that he could get game time by playing on a shorter player as he has the speed to go with most players

Which tuggers picks and when? We made a pretty decent attempt to get their first pick of night 2 in order to secure the brother but the deal was too complicated and it collapsed.
Yep basically Tigers wanted to guarantee they got Sims on night 2, so they kept the pick.
I'm sure our offer would've then gone to the next team after them but nobody wanted out.

He wouldn't play on a key forward this year.

Edit: BTW just adding, while I agree he is a twig, he has already put on some size which is a real positive. Some of those skinny talls just seem to take forever to put on weight. If he can do similar over another 1-2 pre seasons I think he can have real impact from 2027 onwards.

Has Matt or Clarko talked about him playing forward this year or in the future? Or do the club believe his final position will be a defender.

Does Clarko think outside of the box and play him up on wing ala Mark Blicavs from Geelong? Very athletic type, but not sure of his tank at this stage. If he can hit a target and provide great 2 way running, then he would have Scott covered. Use the VFL season to experiment where he is best suited. As long as we have picked the best Whitlock is all I care about at this stage 😎. I’m sure a few on this forum have thought did Brady get their names correct when we submitted on draft night. Seems like a ripping no BS kid who has Shinboner all over him. Good country stock.

Not a bad idea

Matt's junior days in Shepp he played Key Position, but his team had lots of KPs and so he spend time on the wing and went into centre bounces as an an outside mid.
He had the smarts to play the outside role. Held his width, was a great outlet on the wing - 6'7' wingman is hard to defend.
Had the happy knack and timing of being on the move in the right spot and able to receive out of stoppage.
Basketball background (Vic Country U16s and U18s) meant he knew where the space was and was also comfortable in congestion.

Nice insight innercircle
