The day I see us win by more than 9 points will be when I realise someone has laced my lunch.
That may not help either. I reckon it's been that long since we've had some half decent wins, our brains may not have any such memories in their storage. If someone laces your lunch, your brain will just replace the average 10 goal losses with average 3 goal losses

Some maturity by the selectors not to throw an 18 year old into a game as he is still learning his craft. I would hate to see him get mauled down back and have his confidence shot so early in his career. Give him time in the VFL, and at training Darling and Souva can show him every little trick in the forwards playbook for him to learn and apply when called up.

Yes, I'm sure he'll be in when deemed ready. Probably a bit more to it than just "throw him in he can't be any worse"

Nostril spam about him debuting does not indicate any intention by selectors to do so.

My son had some nostril spam this morning. Off to Daycare kiddo, you bring home enough sickness from there each week so it's time to get your revenge.

But yes would want to see Whitlock develop and not get thrown to the wolves

Playing on Jefferson a second gamer for one week in Logues absence to give him a taste is not throwing to the wolves lol
Yes it is against a very solid Melbourne side.

Depends how you play him.

If you see him as a replacement for Logue and put him on a gorilla - no way.

If you put him on the 5th or 6th best forward as a replacement for Lmac - he could definitely benefit from game exposure.

He's an athlete - so playing small won't be a huge issue for him.
Yeah think he’d be an upgrade on Lmac or Tucker

Dear or Logan Morris as 18 yr olds coped with the physical pressure

seems to have gotton off the "bring in maley to smash packs" bandwagon for the time being?
That actually wouldn't be a bad idea this week. Bringing Maley in to play on Lever as a defensive forward could work in our favour.

That's a bit of a shallow take. Yes he might spend parts of the game on a second gamer but what about the rest of it? it's not the 90's where you park your tall on their tall and just leave it be. How's he going to go in transition against the ball movement of Petracca etc? We carry one defender who can't play 1 on 1 in Comben, what happens when matchups need to change? Say Gawn comes forward?

It wouldn't be a great taste if he's blown up by midway through the third, or he gets exposed against AFL level ball movement.

Lever 30 marks minimum.

for KPP you generally get a main matchup
it really is not that different to how you described in the 90s now

yeah sure he might have the odd change up for 1 contest so be it

the late 90s onwards

The game has massively changed so I feel like you must have been born around then rather than actively watching.

It's why you see players such as Kieran Collins, Darcy Hourigan etc have such great junior careers as KPP but that not translate to AFL level. Because it is so much more than a single matchup game now.

I have no doubt Whitlock has the talent and will be a good player, but until he's strung together good VFL footy this year against mature bodies I wouldn't want him to be absolutely cooked.

the point being that KPD are usually assigned a matchup for the game that has not changed

you might change over for the odd contest but generally you have the same matchup

whitlock for 1 week could have easily played on jefferson, then logue comes back next week
