Darling has looked much more dangerous since Maley has started playing as well.

really like big Finbar, hopefully gets a run of games.

2 years in a row it’s taken us to now to realise we play better with the 3rd tall

Straightens us up to give us more marking targets around the ground

Allows us to not be outmarked and our talls have more energy as they don’t have to be everywhere

Be nice if we can start this way each year instead of wasting half a year with a small structure

Need Finnbar rucking over darling tho

How many successful clubs play 3 talls. Not many I'd suggest.

It's killing us, this bomb it in. For once at least Darling lead for the ball.

Be interesting viewing watching the 3 talls although I suspect one goes out for Curtis. If he's fit .

This, go watch the way Footscray entered 50 this week. And it was west who was the best forward. Today zurhaar was our best on the back of the couple of times we went to space rather than the bomb.

Its not 1980 and we dont have dunstall or lockett as our full forward. Modern footy is about cutting lines and lowering eyes to kick to mobile forwards advantage. Hogan, georgiatis and fogarty another 3 examples of medium mobile forwards being the best performing.

The days of plonking 3 lumbering spuds in the forward line and bombing it on their heads are well gone. Even cameron at Geelongs best attribute is his mobility.

Maley looks like it "works" but that is mainly because we are so poor at providing and finding options that a bloke that is good receiving dump kicks on his head is useful. It's not how we should be planning to play though in the longer term.

Lol. We bomb it in anyway, when our biggest contested marking threat is the ectoplasm of Jack Darling. And you're teeing off when we do it with a genuine contested threat in the side?

Every club kicks it long down the line multiple times a game though. Finnbar is the only player we've played in the seniors that looks semi likely to take a grab. The top clubs take grabs down the line frequently. Unfortunately for us, Darling is undersized and at the end of his career, Xerri isn't a good contested grab, and Larkey would have to be the worst marking forward in the comp.

good to see him clunk a few. i believe hes going to be one of the best contested marks in the league within 30-40 games.

his tackling has been great.

something strange i noticed is that he played 55% game time. pretty much the same as last week when he got subbed. played 78% in his debut. anyone want to venture an explanation for this? we seem to be doing things a bit different to other clubs when it comes to rotations. (see konstanty handling too)

Anyone have the vision of Finnbar’s tackle in the 4th? Pretty sure he did the holding the ball signal ala Clarko against Freo in R2 2023.
