which pop up are you referring to? on an app?

I usually get emails from the club regarding major announcement, but didn't see one for this.
Pop ups are normally something that happens when viewing something on a site, as opposed to an alert.
Usually paid content

Yeah the NMFC iPhone app.

In iPhone settings you can set it for allow notifications, immediate delivery, then it dings me like a text message whenever the club posts something.

There would be similar settings for the android version too.

Welcome Tom! Hope you work your way into the team and make a career out of the opportunity.

Am slightly baffled how this all went down though. Really looked like the club was favouring Becker in the lead up to the decision. Shame we didn't snag both.
Like you (and most on here) I thought if it was only going to be 1 pick it would be Becker.

I'm only guessing, but the two things might have swayed the decision - Becker didn't have a great day against Fritsch, and Blamires was lively when he came on, and second, versatility. Becker is solely a medium defender, whereas Blamires could serve as a running defender (note Barlow's comments post-game they are running out of options) or as a defensive mid (to cover for example, Wardlaw).

Either way, they were taking a ready-to-go mature player and not an undrafted kid out of Coates, which for mine was the fundamental priority.

You wonder if the Hardemann injury and diabolical midfield performance may have tipped things in Blamires favour late.

While pre season games aren't 1 for 1 reflections of the team, the lack of run around the ground compared to the Dees was striking. No doubt that Tom's energy was noticed

Watched a few Frankston games last year and that zip is noticeable, and he retains that work rate across 4 quarters. Has a genuinely elite tank.

There is no need to play this guy in the VFL (unless we want to wait for him to average 40 possessions). Start him round 1 and he can play some good footy, until he learns our system.
There is no system.

Can't wait to see him handpassing to the feet of his teammates, bombing it long into the forward line to no one, running himself into trouble and not being accountable.

Looks zippy than outright quick, but good for our purposes.

Yep, I absolutely get Blamires versatility, it's a great weapon for him.
But the public presentation (so to speak) over the weeks they were here really seemed like they were happy with Becker and it was almost a foregone conclusion they were going to pick him. Then they didn't.

I was happy with either, just the way we got here feels weird.

Wasn't just public.

It seemed like it was Beckers list spot to lose. Unfortunately, his first half last week did that.

Not sure if Blamires was going to play the second half or he was an emergency and after Zacs first half, we decided to give Tom a run.

Good luck Tom.
