Maybe its new wallace tatic try to kick enough goals in the 2nd quarter to win the game lol,lol happy with the win but lucky they were playing demons today they played about 20 mins of good footy today the rest of the game was crap.

It was a crap game I didn't enjoy it at all, we were crap in the first, brilliant in the second, crap in the third and not much better in the fourth. What was Wallace thinking going defensive in the third quater should of left Richo forward and not started him down back.

Maybe, just maybe (and I'm only trying to read his mind) Wallace was hoping the boys could carry on scoring without Richo in the forward line after being so far in front. Unfortunatley they couldn't. We are sorely missing a focal point in the forward line other than Richo. Time to give Hughes more game time.

they haven't played a full 4 qtrs in well ove a month. really disappointing that so long into the rebuilding process - they still fade out and let sides smash them for a half hour.

will not make finals with that sort of rubbish

i was at the game and in the 3q we went the flood, ultra defensive which rocked the momentum we had built in 2q. Bloody terrible it was ...Richo killing a pig in 2Q at FF, started 3Q as floating defender, WTF...i understand it was new theory to arrest the %^$#@ 3qtr slides that had become habit, errr, back to drawing board TW

Spot on Strav, without Richo we would have lost tonight. There was no-one else that could take a mark in the F50.

Its a big worry really, Richo wont be there much longer... what's gonna happen then?

It's called fatigue. It's what happens when more than 2/3rds of the lineup are kids who've played nowhere near 100 games, and the third that has played 100 games only includes three blokes who are capable of running hard all day - Richo, McMahon and Hyde - and one of them is carrying a niggle (Richo).

All the kids made a lot of mistakes in the 2nd half which were fatigue induced.

When we put on a dynamite 7-goal burst we'd geared our setup to put the game beyond reach (which we would have done if we'd kicked straight), then just play holding football in the 3rd quarter to conserve energy. We used a similar tactic against Freo and got away with it, but Melbourne actually have heart.

Wallace has assembled a terrific run and carry side which has the tools and gameplan to blow opposition sides out of the water, but very few of the blokes who are key to this strategy are anywhere near four quarters AFL fully fit yet.

It's not rocket science...each season to come we'll be able to play an extra 15 minutes or so with this gameplan, until we reach a point where we play with the same run, carry and intensity we had in the 2nd quarter today for four quarters.

Enjoy the exciting bursts and pray we can hold on the rest of the time. And as for Wallace, the fact we're winning games at all with these kids and not much else besides Richo is a testament to how good a coach he is.

Can't believe Wallace started with Richo loose in the backline at the start of the 3rd. As someone said on radio, "when you're playing the bottom side and you're 37 points up, why have your best forward sitting loose in defensive 50?". Absolutely ridiculous - it's not like Melbourne have any gun key forwards he had to outmark, and he was going for the same balls as Polak anyway.

the thought crossed my mind too but he should have done something about it when Schulz missed his 3rd...

It was awful but we were still good enough to win, probably because we played Melbourne. The Port game should be a cracker.
Attack me in another thread and are in here basically agreeing with what I was suggesting. :o

Same thing happened against the Crows.

Wallace has NFI
