Damien Martyn and Justin Langer have hid a hard patch. They haven't done much in their past half a dozen tests now.

It's interesting about Langer and his recent run of moderate form. It seems his Test form can become unreliable whenever he starts publicly stating he wants a crack at the one-day side.

I remember he was making some noises about this before the West Indies 2000/01 series, and after that his form gradually fell away to the point of being dropped before the Ashes series.

And before this Test series, Langer was reported saying how the Waugh brothers would now know how it is to live in his world and how dispruptive the two-side policy is.

Him being not in consideration of the one-day side really seems to get to him at times, and it affects his Test performances.

STEVE WAUGH YOU ABSOLUTE CHAMPION.

This morning I was talking to clucas91 on msn.
I said this: "I bet you any money Tugga goes on to make a ton."
Chris agreed.

I knew it. He rises to the challenge.
His career was on the line basically and I just KNEW he would come out fighting like the champion that he is.

Onya Tugga!

it was up there in his best half a dozen centuries and i'll tell you why:

1 - the pressure coming into the test on him and the form he had
2 - his first 50 run's were very ordinary to say the least, especially last night but he guts it out like a champ
3 - the heat
4 - he was still on 82 when McGrath came out to bat and had to blaze away to get to the ton

a true champions innings

6/100 then 6/163 at stumps which is somewhat disappointing but obviously well in control.

Pakistan made those runs against the likes of Mark Waugh and Ricky Ponting who were brought on as the light was a bit dodgy. I expect us to clean up the Pakistani tail fairly quickly today, however I don't think we'll enforce the follow on.... I reckon we'll bat again and build a huge lead and make Pakistan bat last on a wearing wicket.

Cheers!!

Why is nobody in the media criticising Brett Lee?

Because most who write and broadcast in the mainstream media, with a couple of exceptions, are morons. They generally happy to repeat the 'common sense view' of things without putting any independent thought into it.

True.

But my 'common sense view' is that Brett Lee is $hite and should be dropped.

not a bad tactic and one which i would consider if i was skipper of a team in this position, but Steve Waugh is not known to not enforcing the follow on i dont think it'll be any different in this test.

True, but it may not matter, as the Pakki's need only 67 more runs to avoid the follow on. They are 6/178 btw.

Brett Lee performing up to his usual standard:
13.6 Lee to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run
13.5 Lee to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, outside the off, trying to bowl too
fast, left alone
13.4 Lee to Misbah-ul-Haq, FOUR, square drive! in the air and beats the
field - four!
13.3 Lee to Misbah-ul-Haq, two runs, thick inside edge and ball goes
behind square leg
13.2 Lee to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, wayward bouncer, wasted delivery, Lee
sparying it all over
13.1 Lee to Misbah-ul-Haq, no run, pushed back to the bowler, picks it
up takes aim, and fails to hit the stumps from ten yards! Not that
it would have made any difference, batsman inside the crease
