I've been harping on this a long time. If we want to be a decent side in the future we need the 2003 crop to become long term player.

At this stage im happy dispite playing in two losing sides some of the signs against the Dogs and most of those boys against the Saints.

Nathan Foley - 32 touches over the 2 games. Isn't much of him but adds abit of in and under about him which seems to help the Cogs/Tuck types. Also has good hands and is a pretty good kick.

Andrew Raines - Been most impressed with the lad. Looks a great HB flanker/future onballer for the club. Really looks to have kicked on. Showing alot. :thumbsu: Everything to like.

Brent Hartigan - dunno why he didn't play round 1. Always liked the look of Harto. Like Raines seems to have bulked up even more and now both boys are a good size. Love the run and toughness in the BP. Also composed.

Daniel Jackson - Overrated after first season. Many saying he would be delisted after last season. IMO a make or brake season. Didn't like the idea of Jacko as a forward but looks a really decent target. Forget he is only 19. Along with P Bowden adds another dimention to the forward line.

Would be worth noting how few minutes he has played to rack up those possessions as well, hopefully we'll start to see him get more and more gametime.

I agree with this, IMO he should be given the chance next week to run with Kerr or Fletcher, similar types to himself and possibly a level to which he can try and get to.

Foley doesn't hurt the opposition unfortunately, and isn't quick over the ground.

Needs time though, and unless he's a late inclusion, he's not going to get it this week.

Foley will never be a 'hurt' type player, but that doesn't mean there isn't a role for him. If he can increase his stamina to the point where he can play most of a game, he can be the extractor and tagger type.

Steve Baker doesn't hurt teams either, Brett Kirk didn't do too much hurting of teams either for years.

Foley is good at getting it from the clinches and then handing it over to someone who can use the ball well. Not a similar player, but a similar role to what Lambert used to do.

Sold on all those Bents. Although not a ball magnet like Foley as such, Jackson looks like a footballer. Have a feeling we'll see this kid cme on in leaps and bounds over the next couple of years.

Agreed Harvs. Personally i think Jacko should be playing up forward looked alright up there last week. Quick of the mark and not a bad kick at goal either.

Although has an ungainly kicking style. Not that I mind, as long as its effective.

Thats true i remember a player for the bears going back years ago cant remember the name i think it might have been Micheal Manson weirdest kicking action i have seen but accurate tho.

Yeah Nathan Foley is coming along very nicely and in time he will develop into a very good player. He seems to be the 'ball magnet' type and I believe he is because last year he got 47 disposals in a game in the VFL. I think the only thing that is holding Foley back is his limited game time.
