Grundog great effort again. Can see the Lions having a very early pick again. Bit of a pattern with the Lions drafting with Vic C players so will be keeping a close eye on Hunter Clark, Lochie O'Brien, James Worpol, Luke Davies-Uniacke and even though he's an SA boy Darcy Fogarty as well. Obviously there's the two academy boys but would be very happy to somehow acquire two from the list mentioned.

James Worpol the Lions like the Geelong Falcons guys.

Well you have some very average players for next year. Matthew Young, Sam Taylor, Aaron Naughton, Brandon Starcevich and Christian Ameduri all players to watch from WA.

Nicholas Bonomelli - will be overage, you may have mentioned him in previous years ?

Thoughts ?

add reece piper to this list again.

while he didnt get picked up this year he still hasnt even turned 18 yet, and is doing another year of stingrays as a "19" year old (he will be 18 during the entire season) so this is technically his correct age year to be drafted.

had a full year of TAC and Championships under his belt already, will be moved up the ground where he does his best work and will be one to watch.
So he's not going to the Northern Blues now??
Paul Amy said he and two other Stingers were trying out at the Northern Blues?

You'll find we already have Scott's son Josh on the list. Jack Clayton is no relation. Furthermore, wouldn't it make sense for him to be a part of the GC Academy if he was Scott's son, not Brisbane's . . .

Not to mention Scott Clayton lives in Victoria, doesn't live in Queensland.

Don't think so mate, no relation at all to Scott.

I have been misinformed then

I have heard of him but hasn't really shown enough for me to consider as a chance as of yet. If he plays league in the WAFL early in the season and some state football, he would be in the running for sure.

Admire your willingness to throw 40 names up this early and it's a good conversation starter for those keen followers of draftable talent but TBH I felt compelled to just go back now to last year's list of 30 you started in late 2015.

I couldn't help but notice you failed to mention in your 30 to watch for 2016 any of the top 3 (McGrath, Taranto and McCluggage) who just got picked up 3 weeks ago.

Any reason for getting it so out of whack at the top end?

Well the main reason is because of two factors, one of which is lack of vision (don't want to make stuff up) and a massive Spike in improvement.

McCluggage I saw last year in a couple games and I felt as though his best was electric but lacked some consistency. Plus he wasn't the massive ball winner at that stage. McGrath I only saw twice and in both games he wasnt too great. He was in my top 50 last year but i hadnt seen enough of him to make a judgement. Taranto was the one who I wouldn't have chosen at all. Had one massive game in 2015 but didn't do to much else. Knew he was good but how good wasn't to be seen until early days of 2016. This year I have watched more u18 football and have seen all of these boys play enough to give me an indication of their talents. Last year I picked 23/30 and are hoping for 30-35 player picked out of my list this year for the draft.

Do you think Fitzgerald and Henderson will get picked up?
Fitzgerald and Henderson will be very interesting player to watch next year as they will most likely dominate TAC cup for Bendigo but will have to develop versatility at state level. Henderson as a ball winner is elite and has shown that he can win his own football enough to give me confidence for next year. Laine is in in a similar situation but has played in defense this year and should move onto a wing next year if everything goes well. For both of these blokes it depends if they play well at state level as that will make or break there year.

How is that going to have any influence on whether or not you take Hayes in 2017?
Because Ben is a legit KPF and we've already drafted McKay. And Curnow to a lesser extent. Plus we need to beef up our midfield big time.

Not so sure about that. We have Ben Silvagni coming through in 2018 and he's supposed to be a ripper.

I think Blues take talent first then needs later. Tall talent like you will find in next year's draft is better then last year's and is definetly competitive with 2015. Ben Silvangi is a star but hasn't played in the TAC system yet. Time will tell if Ben makes it.

Hayes is a ruckman who might pinch hit forward isn't he?

Different player to those blokes IMO. It's not as if Carlton has a stockpile of gun young rucks.

He's exactly that. And Carlton should be taking talent over needs at this stage.

Any chance the Stingrays utilise the strength of yhere list and win a TAC Cup flag for once?
I think thats on the cards for sure but its more then likely Geelong win their first premiership in 17 years. Dandenong's list is very strong next year and have a good mix of established stars (Clark, Clavarino, Davies-Uniacke etc.) and some dark horses who I rate very highly despite them not being exposed at TAC cup level (Young, Freeman, Frawley, Hogan etc.). They have the list, they just need to execute.
