Player Watch #40 Tyler Sonsie - Re-Signed For 2026

Even though he is likely the sub, well done to the club for giving him plenty of opportunity to show something because if it was me I would have dropped him.

He is running out of time. All I want to see him do is hit a contest with a bit of purpose on Saturday night.

He's playing for his career, makes sense for the club to give him more opportunity to see whether he's worth keeping on board.

Hit contests hard, was good by foot on both sides of his body. When you see him twist and turn on a dime with agility and hit a left foot kick to a leading forward is what has always made him so intriguing as not many on our list can do this.

I wish he played like this every week. If he can he has a future.

You could see he was devastated to be subbed last week

The fact he didn’t drop his head this week and bounced back with one of his best games is a great sign

One game against a weak opponent but a definite step in the right direction

He’s been getting his hands on the footy a fair bit this year but tonight was the first game (in the AFL anyway) that he was hitting his targets at the required level

He’s always had the skill. Hopefully he keeps it up through the end of the season

He was in the same junior team as Soligo, probably the better player. But Soligo trains and plays like a professional where the penny is only just dropping for Sonsie.

Too late? How old is he? 21/22 or thereabouts? Ridiculous thinking it’s too late at that age, he’s maturing and getting used to the level and what’s required hopefully

Think the biggest part that's impressed me, was how emotional he was last week and to come back the next week and play one of, if not his best game. Shows some mental strength and hit some big contests.
