I said he’s a 7/10 kick.

Shit truck is not in my vernacular.

Ive called him a squib, a cabbage and various other things. He isnt the complete player. He is lacking serious attack on the ball and courage. He is quick with an average kick. Still a good player, I would have preferred Dan Curtin over him in the draft

In calling them both shit trucks… yes

Pretty sure he doesn’t rate Merrett either FYI
You rate Merrett? Are you ok?

Even if he didn't Captain the scum, I don't rate Chip Scabs either.

He's a fraud, good thing for him the trade to Hawks didn't go through, then it wouldn't be up for debate. He wouldn't have improved them much, if at all.

He's basically a Simpkin. A shit truck who looks good because those around him are no good or young.

Merrett is the single reason we haven't been able to beat Essendon since Brad Scott coached us.

I would say our shitness is that reason, not some coward chip scab. He's good, but if he's the reason we lose to those crettins, then it's on the coaches for not tagging him.

I will have to rewatch some of these games, but the last game was on Finnbar for ****ing up, not anything else. He takes a successful shot or hits a target and we win.

He used to beat ourr midfield with his own efforts. It used to suck and I hated it but no use pretending it didn't happen. Hopefully, after what's happened, that's all in the past.

Its not that one game. He consistently hasn't run off the forward line enough across his career.

There's multiple close games where his poor decisions and failure to chase cost us across the last five years and especially last season.

Yep. He's not a perfect player by any means, although I think 2025 was one of his strongest team years. Some players will always be a bit bull out the gate when up field and the play ahead of them. Expecting him to be great at lowering the eyes is maybe not realistic in many scenarios - I think many players just don't have that kind of vision / ability. Might be less noticeable if we weren't desperately needing every kick to be a winner over the last few years.

He's a bargain pick that has outperformed his selection. Would love him to keep incrementally improving, but his level is unequivocally in our best team for now.

Our best team has been pus for over half a decade tho.

Honestly I used to think he was great but the first live game I saw since before covid changed my mind on that. He kicked 3.3 and had a GA in that game too. It was v Adelaide in Hobart in 2024. They just ran the ball out of our backline with ease all game. It wasn't all on him but he was just standing around scratching his backside while it happened time after time.

It completely changed my opinion on him. Maybe to the point I'm too harsh.

This year he kicked 38 goals. He also had 14 goal assists, his second best year for that stat, one behind his best ever season. But he could have easily had 18-20 GAs and still kicked every one of those goals. That and his failure to chase at crucial times cost us two games, maybe three, imo. Its just a huge number of repeated **** ups.

Every player turns the ball over. Every player misses shots on goal. Every player fails to chase at some point. Every player makes poor decisions. He just does it a hell of a lot, maybe 20 times in a game at his worst. To me it seems he's coasting thu his career and not doing everything he can to be the best player he can. That he's happy where he is. Which might be fine for him but won't lift us back up the ladder.

I'm hoping the responsibility of being in the leadership group gives him the incentive to push himself as hard as he can tho. It's a great opportunity and might be the making of him as a player. If that happens it'll be great to watch and go a long way to dragging us back into finals.

See, I don't think he is "great" per se and not sure I ever did. He's a good player that is damaging on his day, definitely.

Without going back and forth too much I think your other criticisms are more or less fine - I do think this year will tell a lot. Not just the leadership stuff, you have to assume they have seen him respond on & off field to feedback to be considered. I also think it will be interesting to see whether he improves and provides more in a team that looks likely to have a minimum 1-2 proper smalls next to him and a rampaging Curtis. Hoping that Dovaston in particular along with a fit Banch / Konstanty / whoever else is in form provides a whole different structure to the forward line. Not discounting Trembath either who is a much more mobile type and will have a proper pre season. This coming season will tell us a lot about the team and Zurhaar in particular.

Yep, I noticed this Just after his contract in 20/21? He signed an extension then renewed last year? The contract before last, I was all in, we must keep him, he’s our best forward half player etc. Then post that signing whether the Nobles thing trying to make him a midfielder ****ed him up or he got lost in that transition, I dont know, I guess im trying to find an excuse why the campaigner doesn’t chase and is responsible as you say for too many scores against

Which games did he cost us this year ?
Bulldogs, St Kilda, some others have said * tho i'm a bit 50/50 on that. Maybe Port. He was pretty underwhelming against Freo too.

Its not all bad. In other games he almost single handedly got us back into the game eg the second Melbourne game.
