Player Profile

Jake Lloyd is a ball magnet, an endurance machine, a clean user of the footy and a calming influence on the Sydney Swans’ half-back line. The former rookie-listed Swan averaged 27.22 disposals per match between 2016 and 2019 and won the club’s 2018 Bob Skilton Medal. Lloyd became the quickest Swan in history to reach 100 senior games when he ran out against Hawthorn at the MCG in Round 8, 2018. He was then recognised as one of the best players in the league when he was selected for Victoria in the State of Origin match for bushfire relief in February 2019. Draft history: 2013 Rookie Draft selection (Sydney) No. 15; 2014 AFL Draft rookie elevation (Sydney).

Remains an unsung hero of the club. Still playing really well. Super reliable and has lost none of his pace, tank and high footy IQ.
It’s a shame he’ll likely finish up without being properly appreciated by our own supporters (internally I think he's rated quite highly).

Consistently finding the ball at his level, week in, week out, isn’t easy, but it gets overlooked because people fixate on him occasionally slowing the game down. He's been incredibly consistent and durable over the years.

Would be great if he, Harry and Rampe got a flag this year.

I thought Thursday night was his best game this year.
I know he can be frustrating because he loves to kick the ball 100 metres in the air, but at least he wasn't slipping over and fumbling the ball like some players.

Feels weird to say given his age but he really suits our current game plan and system. It rewards players who want to run hard and work into space and receive handballs. He's less prolific than ever but as an OG fan of his, this is the version of Lloyd I have wanted to see for years. Never cared about his disposal count, I just want to see the guy ****ing run.

You can see where age is starting to show - little moments where he's uncharacteristically uncoordinated or caught napping - and I think how much he can keep those moments to a minimum will determine how long he remains in the best 23 for.
