I had forgotten about that case. It was 1987, Wilsons Prom, disappeared while on a family bushwalk, he was 9YO and reportedly autistic. He allegedly ran ahead of the family party and when his sister went ahead to look for him he couldn't be seen. They were not very far from the car park where they had commenced their walk. Aboriginal trackers were called in, but only after several days. A footprint was found, and a cap, both supposedly belonging to the boy.Is that the name of Joe Hildebrand`s brother?
Yes, it is. There are people who tend to believe unusual events have to have some praeternatural cause instead of rational, simpler ones but there are instances that defy logic.
Some of the strange disappearances talked about online are not as strange as they appeared to be when we find out the exact circumstances like missing children running into vegetation for example before they disappeared. But from what I know, the Hildebrand boy disappeared very close to his family. I am not saying Gus` case is the same but I do know despite the online penchant for extraordinary reasons over normal ones, there are always a few cases that simply cannot be understood.
I read on another web page that the family had sent all the workers off the property that morning as it was the weekend. So there wouldn't have been a lot of people around to look for Gus.One thing that annoys me is when a person who has some connection of a crime, cover up, incident, accident, is said to be well respected at work, sport, church, personal life, from a loving home, social status.
Does that make someone less inclined to do any wrong? It's all about their headspace at the time to me.
Crime doesn't discriminate.
We would all have read cases in here from all walks of life that proves that.
My rant.
As for this case, I feel like there is tip toeing and I'm not sure why that is.
It could just be the media getting inside my head.
Doesn't help with the Police media where the narrative is he wandered at the same time saying Gus is not on the property.
If he wandered off the property then why the delay with the release of a photo? If he went off that property then Gus is literally in a public space.
Also the fact the Murray family want to deal with Gus's disappearance by themselves is so strange, actually a bit disturbing when it comes to a missing 4 year old. This is IMO.
'Daily Mail approached Josie for an interview recently, but she declined, only to emotionally explain that the family was 'still looking for him... we're dealing with this. You can't help.'

Doesn’t seem like there were a lot of searchers on the ground in the first few days compared to William Tyrrell, I could be wrong.I read on another web page that the family had sent all the workers off the property that morning as it was the weekend. There hasn't been any mention of outside workers at all.
I remember a couple, man and woman, saying in an interview that they were the only people searching at night and that they waited until the day searchers began. Odd.
I think Gus's dad searched with this couple if I remember
We know there was at least one woman there.
Why?Does anyone know if the Murray’s had any other children besides Jessica?
Just interested if there could be other family members who live on/visit the property or if it’s just their daughter who lives/works on the station. Why?
In other cases, the missing child's families usually make lots of public pleas for assistance. I wonder to what extent in South Australia, do kinship living circumstances corral a families' ability to speak out in public? Or does this particular family just not have the money to hire the social media guru's with a "Where's Gus?" type of campaign. They don't seem to have any cctv to monitor comings and goings. Not every family who lives on a sheep property have lots of cash at their disposal. We know there was at least one woman there.
I could just imagine that headline.
Still find it strange that Gus's maternal grandma, dad, or mum haven't been on media thanking the police and search parties or basically saying anything.
Is there another case where this has happened, where they are unseen?
It’s a very remote area, appealing to the public isn’t really a consideration I wouldn’t have thought unless there was real evidence of an abduction. In other cases, the missing child's families usually make lots of public pleas for assistance. William Tyrell's foster family had the money to independently pursue a decades long campaign, as did Madeline McCann's family. Cleo Smiths family made public appeals for help and relied on the WA police and when her abductor started to buy nappies and young child supplies at the local store, it was the local public who alerted the police to this out of character behaviour of a town resident. Of course, the WA police also used tracking technology. I say using everyone's eyes and key boards, I believe gets a better result.
IMO Gus's family request is, that they be left alone and that they do not believe the public can help. Maybe they have been content during those massive searches, or have been advised, to leave it to the police. Now that the searches have stopped maybe they might go more for a public presence.
Yes, that`s still a weird one. I know there`s a good possibility that she was taken by that evil German man but I have always been skeptical of the demolition job done by some of the English speaking media on the Portugese police.I think when we look back on this it will have a lot of similarities to the madeleine mccann case
searching for Azaria. Bizarre and I`d say evidence of a stress disorder. Was Paddy in actual sight of his sister?I had forgotten about that case. IMO the advancements in search and rescue techniques and forensic technology over 40 years would provide a much better chance of tracing what happened to Paddy if it happened today. In the case of Gus, he is younger and smaller and could not have travelled as far under his own steam, nor have survived as long as Paddy might have. Also, the terrain is much more favourable at Oak Park - flatter, much more open, less natural features etc.
Was Paddy in actual sight of his sister?
I know the whole Missing 411 or whatever it is in the USA - videos on youtube about it and the ex policeman who`s gained attention for focusing on strange disappearances - but his books apparently are something like $1,000 apiece although supposedly it`s because it costs a small fortune to get documents collated and copied from the National Parks authority or whatever it is in the USA.
This bloke is interesting but when you go deeper, you find that a significant number of these mysterious cases are explainable. For example, some of those missing children were out of sight in vegetation, with room for potential abductors to hide away. And one of the cases from the 50s I think is now being attributed to the boy`s own family, with myserious aspects of the situation hyped up by Paulides (the ex policeman) but contemporary accounts pointing more to suspicions of the family.
From what I know and it`s not much, Paddy was in closer physical proximity when he vanished.
IMO finding out what happened to a missing child is always in the public interest. There are far too many cases of children disappearing into thin air. How can it keep happening? We are all missing something IMO. I keep wracking my brains trying to figure out how disappearing into thin air can happen.Yes, that`s still a weird one. I know there`s a good possibility that she was taken by that evil German man but I have always been skeptical of the demolition job done by some of the English speaking media on the Portugese police.
To the point where it was suggested both explicity and implicitly that somehow the Portugese police were corrupt because they rightly wanted to focus on the parents as well as the notion that a passing stranger took their child. I don`t agree with the downplaying of the police dog reacting strongly the McCann`s car, either. The image of the McCanns as a loving couple was plastered everywhre despite information that they were at odds with each other and were displaying it publicly before their child went missing.
A theory is that Madeline was accidentally overdosed. It`s only conjecture but if the couple had admitted to that, they had a lot to lose reputation-wise at the least, probably would have affected their medical careers and finances, and could have faced a manslaughter charge in Portugal. I doubt we`ll ever know the truth.
Regarding Gus` disappearance - I can understand why his family do not want to discuss anything with the media, make statements for the public. We`re in the age of media run amok with so many amateur journalists and crime solvers on social media, online forums etc. It can go very wrong very quicky for anybody in the public eye to say anything.
Even back in Lindy Chamberlain`s day, I heard she was invited onto a television network and did an odd and inappropriate theatrical performance ofsearching for Azaria. Bizarre and I`d say evidence of a stress disorder.
Maybe somebody who saw that or recalls hearing about it at the time can tell us if that`s true. I read that a local Aboriginal elder maintained she wasn`t guilty and said a dingo did it at the time. Lindy and her husband Michael later divorced and there were rumours that it was due to Michael knowing that she had indeed killed their child but there`s never been a smoking gun, just speculation. Imagine how it would all pan out these days with social media....
