5 Year Blueprint Released

Hmm. It's not much other than a bunch of objectives, which is fine. However, objectives aren't a plan. It's a bit like saying "I plan to be rich" without saying how.

mmm- not a bad effort, lacking a little in detail and too many marketing gurus flow diagrams for my liking. I guess the most important part of this particular business -the playing list- is now in a good place , the rest tends to follow.

Pretty disappointing document IMO. Just a bunch of cliched slogans. I sincerely hope that this is just a summary, and the actual document is about 100 pages thicker.

One thing that was pleasing to read was how important members/supporters are to the club. For too long, I believe that club has looked after it's richer supporters, whilst leaving the rank and file nothing more than a membership ticket, and a pat on the back.

Very disappointing if you ask me.
I heard this was about and really looked forward to reading it.
It is nothing more than a bunch of motivating happy words, it means absolutely nothing and offers absolutely nothing.
It's just a cheap way of trying to galvanise members, pathetic.
I'd like to know who is the 'brains' behind it.
Did Ratten, Swann and Sticks sit around for months working on this 'five-year plan' or did some work experience kid type up a few quotes.

More to the point, who says we need to wait 5 yrs for a flag, I woulda thought the 5 yr plan began with the likes of judd, murph and gibbs

Are the club serious?

That looks like some power point presentation any university student could have developed about a fictional organisation.

Fantastic - we've set out categories and objectives ... any detail as to how we're going to try and meet them?

Geez might have to have 5 premierships seasons a year... for how many teams are wanting to win 2 premierships in the next 5 years....

It is an ordinary document as well... If they needed to pay consultants to help put that together..... waste of money.

That plan/document is truly embarrassing:thumbsd:.

On a side note wasnt Kernahan supposed to be an iterum president, I think the CFC needs to keep trying to get the best in all areas and I dont think that is Kernahan (great VP just not President)

5 year plans are a little cliché aren't they. .. We have spent a long time paying out Richmond for this same thing and it just seems wrong. .. I used to think Carlton was a bit of a leader club but we seem to be following a list of clubs on this one. .. There is a lot of the professional side of the game that I dislike but this is the kind of stuff we should be getting right, similarly membership. ..

Now that we have to play by the rules it seems the deficiencies in the running of our club are pretty glaring. Can't bring myself to even question the great man but slowly, slowly the poisoned arrow of dread is swinging toward the Prez's door. :(

you guys really think they would realse all details on how to achive objectives just out in the open?

gotta have more sense than that, while the document looked like some slap job full of slogans to try and fire up the less witted followers it has got some good points.
namely i lists areas we have been complaining about, while it doesnt say how we plan to reach these goals it does show the club is aware of the issues.

if every club released detailed plans on achieving sucess everyone would copy it (if it proved to be a good one) and thus stifle the effectiveness of such a plan.

so in conclusion good to see they are working to better areas we are lacking in, good to see they (probably) do have some sort of plan in effect rather than leave us in the dark but bad to see a power point full of slogans boasting 2 cups in 5 years now if we dont make it we will look like fools.

It's standard fare mission statement, Corporate strategy etc etc. Most larger corporates do this sort of thing and there's never any great detail, it represents intent and tells the customer (us) and wider market in general terms what the company's expectations of itself are for the next several years.

Really just solidifying their move away from 'running a club' to 'running a business'.

We don't need every detail, but a broad strategy on how we'll achieve these objectives would make them meaningful. As it is, it's just a motherhood document.

They'll have strategies of course - they're not idiots, but they're not telling us much with this document.

This thing had a big build-up starting from AGM night. One expectation was that it would tell us our debt strategy. No-one is in any doubt about Melbourne's, and that's helped them no end. So, yes, more detail on that front is definitely required.
