Bomber wasnt giving away much just then on 360 about Joeys chances this week
The Derpinator is ready!
Ran into Bomber as I was leaving Vic Park on Sat at 3/4 time with my gf. Couldn't resist the temptation to ask him about Joe. How far is Joe from getting a game Bomber? His reply was exciting and reassuring.
"yeah, he is good isn't he. He is very very close to getting a game." he said. Then smiled at me and walked off as I yelled out GO BOMBERS as we both got into our cars.
Personally with the admission that Hurley is unlikely to play this weekend I think that we will probably see Joe this week or next.
With sooooo many fwd 50 entries of late, combined with our relatively disfunctional fwd line, and the possibility of playing on the small SCG - these are the perfect conditions for Daniher to come in for Hurley.
At 94kgs & 201cm the kid is hardly a light weight and chances are given Crameri & Bellchambers/Ryder in Fwd line along with Winders, we will stretch the opposition massively.
Ideally Joe would come in with a Davey an Hurley & Winders comes out. Joe can play for a half or so and then be subbed off if he is puffed. Davey will need to wait for another week due to injury.
I think he is a lightweight for his size. When he is physically at his peak in a few years I'd expect him to be nudging 105 - 110 kgs so he is a long way off. Guys like Richards would push him under the ball with relative ease atm. Running at the ball will be his strength early in his career and I don't think the SCG gives him enough space to do this.
But what about airspace? At the highest point? They won't be plugging those atmospheric holes..
Expect a debut, and winning goal, against North.
"Joey leaves pouch, beats Kangaroos"
But they will prevent him from getting to more contests than he usually does, and block his run hence limit his jump.
Sorry to be realistic, but I don't think Swans at the SCG is a great place to debut him.
The following week at the MCG where there is space vs Carlton who struggle with KPFs is a completely different story though and where I'd expect him to debut if he is to debut some time soon.

How? Remembering HE TAKES THE BALL AT IT'S HIGHEST POINT.![]()
WHAT? He marks the ball before it starts to drop? Jebus

He's one of those rare forwards who you feel is a genuine chance to mark whenever the ball is in his area. None of our tall forwards have this trait.
If he can get to a Gumby-like level when the ball hits the ground (which is not asking for much) he'll be a nightmare match-up.

ON the real plane of existence, I entirely agree with you. Sydney would have blokes running across his path, hanging off him and just hampering him generally all day. He'd probably win a free or two, but it would be a difficult match to start with. Not saying he couldn't deal with it, but it'd go entirely against TRB approach so far, and would be psychologically harsh on the kid to have to try to live up to debut expectations in that kind of playing environment.
