If you ever needed an example of poor coaching from MM, today was the day. Hille going down in the first 10 minutes of play should have seen us absolutely smashing Ryder around the ground and giving a gift to our mids.

But instead of sinking the boot into Ryder, we had Josh in listless fashion offering some very soft efforts and no hard effort around the ground to physically punish Ryder. Every player around the ground failed to smash Ryder and that is a coaching pegorative. To fail to take advantage of Hille's ommission is a disgrace of the highest order.

The old story of playing out wide just killed us. Playing down the middle allows you options left, right and centre, but Mick persists with this wide game plan which blind Freddy knows is just too predictable and kills us. Knights as a young coach understands the value of the corridor and in the kick ins we were utterly flumoxed by their zoning.

Get with the program Mick. No one is going to win by that decrepit style. To be beaten by an ordinary side like Essendon is not permissable by a side which sets it's aims at a GF.

Micks playbook is too limited, time for Collingwood to plumb for Buckley - a coach for tomorrow.

Yep Malthouse has got to go every team know his game plan and he is ever to stubborn or to stupid to change it. That is 2 games if not 3 we have lost this year because he won't defend the corridor where the game is won and lost.

i agree old spice... i have, for a very long time, been an unwaivering supporter of MM... this has now changed... the collingwood i see in 2009 is pathetic... im bitterly disappointed... not at the loss but at the fact that i no longer have the faith in muck the get us number 15....

eddie make sure bucks or scott burns (anyone notice what this midfield coach has done with the weagkes so far?) on the phone and start getting the succession plan in place.... even if mick can somehow conjure up top 4 he still needs to go.. time for a fresh approach... sounds like we need some naivety (spelling?) at our club.

Someone push his head under a tram. The guy is a w***er and a disgrace to the black and white.

My biggest coaching gripes from today's match:

- The unwillingness to adjust the kick-in strategy. Essendon basically knew that we were not prepared to kick down the middle, and adjusted accordingly. We, on the other hand, refused to adjust to their adjustment, and kept kicking it to 50/50s from kick-ins the whole game.

- The refusal to properly flood the backline in the closing minutes. There's a time to play "honourable" man-on-man footy, but this wasn't one of them.

- The forward-line set-up. We don't have a single crumber up there any more. Not one. Macaffer, Medders, Rocca, Cloke, Anthony etc...all marking players. It's dumb and won't work.

We lost the game at the selection table, when you got *******s like lee brown, shan cox and alan toovey in the side, one useless ruckman in josh fraser and no one who wants to put in the hard yards then your never going to win a game.

How is fraser playing like a girl a coaching catastrophe?! He is a senior player and captain for the past two weeks, the onus is on him and him alone! We lost because fraser played like a girl and did not rally the "troops"

Fraser plus something for pavlich?! anybody?

C'mon mate, how is it MM fault that Josh Fraser played an absolute shocker??? MM would've counted on Fraser, as one of his key men, to do is job, but he failed and that isn't MM's fault!
