If you ever needed an example of poor coaching from MM, today was the day. Hille going down in the first 10 minutes of play should have seen us absolutely smashing Ryder around the ground and giving a gift to our mids.
But instead of sinking the boot into Ryder, we had Josh in listless fashion offering some very soft efforts and no hard effort around the ground to physically punish Ryder. Every player around the ground failed to smash Ryder and that is a coaching pegorative. To fail to take advantage of Hille's ommission is a disgrace of the highest order.
The old story of playing out wide just killed us. Playing down the middle allows you options left, right and centre, but Mick persists with this wide game plan which blind Freddy knows is just too predictable and kills us. Knights as a young coach understands the value of the corridor and in the kick ins we were utterly flumoxed by their zoning.
Get with the program Mick. No one is going to win by that decrepit style. To be beaten by an ordinary side like Essendon is not permissable by a side which sets it's aims at a GF.
Micks playbook is too limited, time for Collingwood to plumb for Buckley - a coach for tomorrow.
