ok i think pretty much everyone has given their opinion on everything Fremantle as of late, what will be acceptable by seasons end to say that the coaching staff have earnt to keep their position for next season, and i suppose the same question applies to the playing list.
Adding to that if it is deemed to be a successful season (god forbid our chairman being allowed to decide that) should CC contract be extended again midway through the 2007 season or regardless of the outcome should the club wait till seasons end to make this decision next time if there is a next time

If the club was really up to getting real serious about immediate on field success, they should dump the coach now.

Unfortunately the the damage has been done and a fresh start with not only a new coach but really a semi new list aswell.

There are way too many if's involved in your question to speculate on.

Well if connolly survives at seasons' end and gets to fulfil the 2007 part of his contract, then the FCCare still in the same position as they were at the start of 2005. going into the season with the coach who has only one yr contract.

THis was the reason for extending his contract last time to head of speculation about hsi future??

perhaps you are too scared to make a prediction?

If CC is coaching us next year, then I am assuming that we have
a) made the finals, and
b) done well in that final and probably winning it.

Assuming the above, and if by halfway through next year the team looked like it has improved on where it was after the end of this year, then yes they should renegotiate his contract. Why wouldn't you?

We have to win a final.

I can't see CC, or anyone else, having the stomach to go to the Board for the year-end review, having scraped into the eight and blown out in a final, or missing the eight. What on earth could you say? Everything would sound like a cliche.

The board and the CEO have backed connolly to the hilt.
If the season is deemed a failure ie not making finals I keep asking the same question who is going to ask him to resign or sack him??

Will the CEO and president fall on their swords as well?? Bloody unlikely?

The Board and CEO should fall on their swords if the did NOT back him to the hilt. Loyalty is the first thing required of them. Integrity too. And like most organisations they would review their position at the end of the current year, which, if the goals they had set out to achieve at the start of the year were not met, would be the time for them to look to the future.

From what I can see the CEO is easily the best we have ever had (a short
list I know), and so is the Coach. They chose the man they thought best to lead the club, and I think were pretty correct. It hasn't progessed as well as everyone would like. Why would you want to sabotage the entire club for that?
