ITN, I hope this reproduction of lyrics from XTC's 'Dear God', might give you some food for thought. Seems perfectly timed, given the number of times you drag out the name of the 'Lord'. Enjoy.:)

Dear god,
Hope you got the letter,
And I pray you can make it better down here.
I dont mean a big reduction in the price of beer,
But all the people that you made in your image,
See them starving on their feet,
cause they dont get enough to eat

From god,
I cant believe in you.

Dear god,
Sorry to disturb you,
But I feel that I should be heard loud and clear.
We all need a big reduction in amount of tears,
And all the people that you made in your image,
See them fighting in the street,
cause they cant make opinions meet,
About god,
I cant believe in you.

Did you make disease, and the diamond blue?
Did you make mankind after we made you?
And the devil too!

Dear god,
Dont know if you noticed,
But your name is on a lot of quotes in this book.
Us crazy humans wrote it, you should take a look,
And all the people that you made in your image,
Still believing that junk is true.
Well I know it aint and so do you,
Dear god,
I cant believe in,
I dont believe in,

I wont believe in heaven and hell.
No saints, no sinners,
No devil as well.
No pearly gates, no thorny crown.
Youre always letting us humans down.
The wars you bring, the babes you drown.
Those lost at sea and never found,
And its the same the whole world round.
The hurt I see helps to compound,
That the father, son and holy ghost,
Is just somebodys unholy hoax,
And if youre up there youll perceive,
That my hearts here upon my sleeve.
If theres one thing I dont believe in...

Its you,
Dear god.

Well I was waiting for the lyrics of the Blondie song 'Rapture', but never mind, equally interesting. Does one leave tim tams and his favourite drink at the door ala Santa, or would that be considered inappropriate?

Here's a gift from a Muslim.

Your government deemed he too dangerous to be allowed into the U.S..

As you can tell from his lyrics clearly a vicious terroist.

It's not time to make a change, just relax and take it easy
You're still young that's your fault,
there's so much you have to know
Find a girl, settle down, if you want to, you can marry
Look at me, I am old, but I'm happy
I was once like you are now, and I know that its not easy
to be calm, when you've found something going on.
But take your time, think a lot, think of everything you've got
For you will still be here tomorrow, but your dreams may not
Chorus:
How can I try to explain? when I do he turns away again
it's always been the same, same old story
From the moment I could talk I was ordered to listen
now there's a way and I know I have to go away
and I know I have to go
Verse:
It's not time to make a change, just sit down and take it slowly
(I) (know) (I have)
You're still young, that's your fault, there's so much you have
(to make this)
to go through
(decision) (alone)
Find a girl, settle down, if you want to you can marry
(know)
Look at me, I am old, but I'm happy
(stay) (stay, stay)
All the times that I cried, keeping all the things I knew inside
(why?) (must) (you go and make this de-
It's hard, but it's harder to ignore it.
cision) (alone?)
If they were right, I'd agree, but it's them they know, not me
Now there's a way, and I know that I have to go away.
I know I have to go.

This song will never last. A fly-by-night nobody. He doesn't even go on tours to promote his albums any more. His visibility is zilch. He should get a publicist.

afc: If your heart is truly on your sleeve, as the lyrics suggest, you'll understand that the Sword of God is upon your hand against the infidel terrorists who plague our innocense and rape our peace. It is God's will that we dispatch the terrorist and send them to their false god and false virgins. It is we that will meet God and we who will do so in God's glory.

Freedom!

That's all I've got to say about that.

What a weird thread.

I'm guessing two things, one a cert, the other a net thing.

1.The thread starter used Google and has probably never heard 'Senses Working Overtime' or any other XTC song.

2.ITN would bite. This is the net thing.

http://www.lyricsdepot.com/xtc/senses-working-overtime.html

Best. XTC. Song. Ever.

Dear God was meh.

You assume an awful lot, I used to do many XTC songs as covers in my early days. 'Dear God' is a personal favourite, but yes I did get the lyrics from a website, as it is a lot easier to cut and paste than it is to rewrite manually, technology is a wonderful thing. As for XTC songs, I far prefer 'Generals and Majors' to 'Senses Working Overtime'. All very relevant songs that deserve to be re-released in the current environment. So your "cert" is actually little more than incorrect speculation. Thanks for the effort though Hotdogs.

As for Point 2, of course he bit, how could he refuse and he has exceeded my expectations with his post. Yep, God supports us good guys killing off all the 'ragheads' as this is precisely what the Christian ethos is supposed to be all about.

Don't know who your God is ITN, but it can't be the same one I hear people talking about. You know the one 'Peace on Earth, Goodwill to Man'. Man doesn't specify religion, it just says Man. Love thy Neighbour, turn the other cheek, love your enemy, do unto others as you would have others do unto you. Plenty more if you want them, but I'm yet to find one that says 'Destroy those that you do not understand for the raghead is going to hell and your duty is to get them there as soon as possible'.:)

We need more religion and less outward expressions of religiosity

Agreed. I feel that if there is a God of any description(can't say categorically one way or the other), that he/she would be horrified by the use of their existence to justify the murder of innocent and even guilty people. Human life is sacred IMHO and the wanton expiry of other lives, could not possibly be mandated by any truly 'holy' being.

Yeah and I'm Robbie Williams.

You had a cheap google go at someone, and have now googled Generals and Majors.

Google makes people on here look like uneducated fools.

Don't worry, you're not the first.

Hmmm, very selective. Perhaps you forgot the bit where he flooded the world and killed everyone, men, women and children, to rid the earth of corruption.

Sort of what Israel is doing on a smaller scale in Lebanon.:D

Hahahaha, you are a typical arrogant git who thinks that a god (if it does exist) shares our lofty opinion of ourselves as higher than any other of his creations.

Let me remind you that during the Tsumani, thousands of lives were lost and the corpses were mixed up with the rest of the rubbish and flotsam. Human life didn't seem too sacred then.

Get over yourself buddy, in gods eyes you are equivelent to a cockroach, (which also aligns with my view of you:D ).

Read Liebnitz on the Problem of Evil and "Where is God" by Leornardo Boff - relevant to the Tsumani question

Sorry buddy, evil and God are man made concepts designed to give us a lofty opinion of ourselves. I would never waste time reading about it, it is akin to believing in Santa.

Your extreme moral relativism and the level of cynicism you express in your posts are instructive

Then who made the earth and the heavens and space? Your secularism is showing... evil and goodness are not concepts but reality. What is man-made is your denial...
