Did anyone go to the Telstra dome meet the players thing in (I think) 2006, I think it was after a Dogs game... they did the "oi oi oi" thing there to each individual player. Very embarassing. You could almost see the players contacting their lawyers to arrange the restraining orders.

I'd prefer the unofficial cheer squad over the vegie cheer squad any day.
The amount of different chants the vegie cheer squad comes up with, you can count them on one hand.I was I was paid a dollar for every different chant the unofficial squad comes up with.In fact let's stop insulting them by calling them the "unofficial" cheersquad, let's call them the "normal" cheersquad.
Can't actually see myself in that video but I was very close nearby, the atmostphere after the game was incredible, everyone knew that something special was going to happen the following week. The amount of times this moment has been posted on Youtube shows how much people enjoyed it.
Hopefully it could help build a bigger and better normal cheersquad that Geelong supporters can be proud of (without the "oi oi oi"'s).

Where's a good spot everyone can meet at the TD game against Essendon in round 2 ??

The good thing about TD are that are places where the echoing can be incredible.

the problem with the chant is that from the TV all you ever hear is the oi oi oi part because the first bit is yelled by a single person only. So it does sound a bit naff I agree. But the cheersquad do a great job normally. I especially like that guy who dresses up in the cat mask and gear...that is dedication.

my uncles mates with that guy.

did not get up close and personal with him to gauge the hair on his arms but was impressed with the guys balls 2 years ago at preston city oval still cheering behind the goals in just his jumper and shorts despite the fact the rain was belting down and the barometer would have failed to reach 10 degrees.

that was a good day I thought....i was standing there with him for 2 and a half quarters, but gave up.....the guys a nutter for the GFC; gotta love it...

I have seen this 2 at different functions, heard about it aswell. They do it everywhere. Worst i heard was when my ex went 2 the fashion parade for GFC last year and when each player came out they did it. Supposedly some other people there were furious, and players were exceptionally embarassed. There is a time and place for it...............actually NO maybe not.

Sat in the cheer squad for the Richmond game.

Never again.

I'm just gonna copy and paste here...

Cheer squad was the most annoying ____ing squad I've seen, then again I've never sat near one that close before... But ____ me I was sick of it. Headache worthy. F___ing loved moving down in the rain, better view and no ____ing annoying OI OI OIIIIIn and G E E E E E L O N G I CAN SPELL OMG MUM.. Really took out the excitement for me. They just really over do it, they could've went down right behind the goals, weak ass supporters. They need to drop the OI OI OI for every player that kicks a goal, and the GEELONG CLAP CLAP CLAP chant at random times in the game every ____ing 2 minutes.

Great seats otherwise. >_<

HAHAHA. Oh my god. That is terrible.

I sat near the Richmond Cheer Squad yesterday and I thought it was fantastic the way they just love Richo. He is just God to them. I wish our disgracesful cheersquad would cheer like that for our players!!! When we are winning they cheer but otherwise..... nothing!

I think people need to acknowledge what the cheer squad is, it is a squad that cheers. They are there to give their full support to all the Geelong players every week, every game, and they do that by chanting and making noise, and the banner each week. They are a great passionate group of Geelong people, and I'm sure the players are thankful for their unequivocal support.

Gold star!
Yeah they do a great job but I think we are just saying that it's about time that the squad gets some new chants to liven it up a bit. The 'Oi Oi Oi' chant is bloody annoying. It's great to have such passionate fans... just wish they would mix the chants up a little.

I think that the idea of a cheersquad is great, but some of the chants that our cheersquad come up with are just embarrassing and not to mention, unoriginal.

There was a group of boys who were cheering at the Prelim final(?) last year, and they were doing a great Gary Ablett chant. Why can't the official squad do something like that instead of resorting to something so grating and contrived like the "oi oi oi" chant?

Well stop complaining people and put up or shut up. Post your best new chants and pass em on to the squad.

We are just suggesting it... gee touchy... anyone would think you are in the cheersquad or something... ;)

Suggestion 1: "GARY ABLETT, GARY ABLETT, GARY ABLETT, GARY ABLETT"
Suggestion 2: "Moooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnyyyyyyyy, Moooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnneeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyy, Moooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnneeeeeyyyyyyyyyy"

I would looove it if they would yell out...

Two day one night......Two day one night.........Two day one night........Two day one night......Two day one night......Two day one night.....Two day one night.....Two day one night

Just to get Moona fired up when hes at there end of the oval.

Well we all do that!! Well I do anyway... cept for the interstate matches.

Anyway, I agree with Eliiiza, those guys at the Prelim final were great.

And the "oi oi oi" chant must go. I almost wished Geelong wouldnt get a goal, just so we wouldnt have to hear it all the time.
Kidding. :D

the best cheers are at soccer
in engand the crowd chants are awesome, the footy has a bit to go to get there

But the reason the chants are so good in English soccer is because the on-field product is so bloody boring, so the crowd need to do something to entertain themselves. :p

Now if only the cheersquad could do something like this.

Dam, and i was so close to attending an English Premier League game when i was over there...

Also what about the Barmy Army???

The baseball over in America is alot of fun too... they get the whole crowd involved. But I doubt that kinda stuff would work here. Esp at the footy.

And what's with the nil-all draws?!? You sit there ALL DAY to see no bloody score.

Almost like a Sydney match!!

dear winter you are the best you know everything

why dear sir is football only played in australia, and not all states, and why was there a crowd of less than 6,000 at a game, as that would never happen in the premier league in the world

by the way i love both sports, i am a tad more open minded than yourself
even sen have the round ball on, maybe you could sms them to get it off once you get dropped

Which states in Australia don't play football?

As for footy only being played in Australia, why is there going to be a footy world cup played in August I think, with teams from England, New Zealand, South Africa, Ireland, Canada, the US, Denmark and Japan, amongst others, competing?

See, we don't actually need somebody to score meaninglessly every three seconds to make our game interesting. We've got something called GAMEPLAY that makes our game good to watch.
