A Sydney Blog!

"Gayfooty.com.au is a news item in Sydney Morning Herald as it is asked to take down offending pictures of Footy Players."

You can take the Sydney out of the gay, but you can't take the gay out of the RL I mean Sydney:D

There is a club that attracts a bigger crowd to its games ??

Crowds?

Why look at 1 aspect of it, why not look at them all?

I'm sure the NSW waratahs are up there and I know the Blues average around 60-70,000.

But crowds are only a small part of it.

Don't the swans average only 130,000 viewers on FTA every Saturday night?

That's pathetic.

So add the crowds to the ratings and the swans average around 145,000 every week. :D

I'm sure Parra and any other League side kills that.

Hell PTV figures would be bigger every week :D

Oh and you probably think because Parra only can fit 20,000 in their stadium, that's all they can get?

Not our fault the idiot who runs them keeps lowering the size of the ground.

10 years ago, you could squeeze over 30,000 in there, not now.

Too many assumptions...

So now you DO want to talk positive about Union (Waratahs), its in your interest hey ;)

Big crowds, more interest ;)

Small crowds and I mean very small crowds in RL and less interest:thumbsu:

No, the Tahs are more popular than the swans, always have been.

It's not rocket science, it's the truth begrudgedly.

Small crowds in RL, what do you mean?

There are 9 NRL teams in Sydney, any weekend when the Swans play, there are anywhere from 60,000 to over 100,000 people watching League at the grounds.

Pffft, when Sydney play Collingwood or Essendon you get 60-70 in one game

Care to prove that, I can only remeber 1 or 2 games around that.

After the big crowd, the rest have dropped haven't they?

33K Avg Home game crowd for 2006 :thumbsu:

Well below the 37K in 1997 but on the increase :thumbsu:

The best indicator of strength is revenue. Sydney has more fans than any Sydney team and also bigger sponsors which equates to a greater revenue :thumbsu:

Hence Sydney Swans are the biggest footy club in NSW

Sydney Swans are the biggest club Smack bang in the centre of the Cross .:o

Only because you get all the rejects coming out from victoria.Or else you'll be lucky to get 30,000.:D

You could say the same for the numbers at the SOO held in Melbourne, without the Qld & NSW supporters infesting the place the attendance would hypothetically be lower.

PREMIER BRACKS REITERATES COMMITMENT TO NEW STADIUM

Victorian Premier Steve Bracks today reiterated what all Melbourne Storm supporters have expected, his commitment to building a purpose built, rectangular stadium at the Olympic Park precinct to be the new home of rugby league in Victoria.

Despite a drawn out process in the commencement of the stadium, Bracks made it clear that the Melbourne Storm would indeed have a new rectangular stadium to call home in the near future.

The building of the stadium has been delayed due to lengthy discussions regarding the stadiums capacity. It was originally planned to have an initial capacity of 20,000, increasing to 25,000 over time.

"We want to make sure that the stadium goes ahead, and whatever I can say, the stadium will go ahead,'' Mr Bracks said.

Melbourne Storm CEO Brian Waldron was delighted to hear Premier Bracks' commitment to the stadium, particular given the strides rugby league had made in Victoria over the past 12 months.

"When the government made the announcement in 2006 that this stadium was going ahead, the game of rugby league made a huge investment in the Melbourne market," said Waldron.

"A multi-million dollar increase in game development expenditure, complimented by a State-of-Origin game which contributed in excess of $70 million to the Victorian economy, has supported an outstanding season by the Melbourne Storm in 2006.

"We are pleased Premier Bracks went out of his way to reiterate his support for the stadium and we look forward to building commencing in the not-too-distant future."

:D :D :D

Talk about changing tack mid-discussion! It would be interesting to compare that to the bledisloe which will be held down there later this year though.
