Ablett priority picks

Question. As the picks are tradeable, does that mean that if we trade a pick the pick remains either a) in the middle of the first round or b) immediately after our first pick or c) imediately after the new clubs first pick and can the other club hang onto these picks for 5 years?

It opens discussion as to if we traded a compensation pick to WCE, do they get a pick in the middle of the first round, after their first pick (ie no. 5) or after our first pick?

All of a sudden that pick can be big compensation.

Neither.

The picks would follow the same rules but for our club.

So end of first round after the PP this year and since we were bottom we have ladder priority (so pick 27).

Otherwise it would be after our 1st round draft pick in 2012-14 depending on the year we nominate.

Ah, of course. Well, best to sit on them until 2012. Whatever the case a top 10 and top 15 pick are very useful. Then again they could handy if used as part of trade this or next year.

Yeah, will be handy if traded. For example, I have no doubt Dogs will trade their harbrow pick to someone prepared to bank it til 2012, and will get something good in return.

But no point using them in the draft this year...far too diluted.

Lets develop our younger list first, over the next 2 years (Taylor, Duncan, Motlop ect...) Use the draft picks in an uncomprimised draft (2012). Lets remember we have Wells to decided.... he has done alright. Lets hold on to them so we can produce depth within the list first.
I dont know about you but im really excited about the youth that potentially come into the club..... Silver lining anyone......

Apparently there is a chance we may trade them to GC or GWS? Perhaps we know they have some kids that would be ideal that also might be struggling to get noticed with so many kids in their system.

I'd take that young ruckmen of theirs at Gold Coast. He's looks a promising young player.
