Re: Ablett & Varoce Out?

By sounds of it all saint supporters think the cats players are soft :S if they had brains they would rest some players before finals too.. but as i said IF they had brains

Re: Ablett & Varoce Out?

Geelong can't take #1 spot on the ladder and have given up.

They are taking the rest policy.

Very pleased with this. Not of one these players really looked seriously injured last week. We have heeded our lesson from last year and will be timing our run to perfection.

1st or 4th makes no difference.

Good luck to Tenace hope he plays a blinder. He has earnt this game.

Re: Ablett & Varoce Out?

Steady boys...big picture. For the next month I couldn't give a rat's if we play our VFL side as long as come September we are Top 4 with as close to a fit list as possible.
Having said that, I still believe the talent si there to win, but it really depends if they gel as a team. That is more the issue for me in this game.
Still we do have a VFL team that runs the same system and style.
Do we change our tips.....i'm tempted !? i'd love to see us (no disrespect to the lions)....come out tmrw night and flog em by 10 gls w this side we have; it's still capable of doing it minus the out's or is it wishful thinking :confused:

Re: Ablett & Varoce Out?

Might get on Betfair and put up a market for Selwood, Jimmy & Chappy to be rested next week - will be pretty short.

Re: Ablett & Varoce Out?

Interesting point that, what would the saints (players/staff) be thinking deep down about all these out's.
I think we wen't hard but the saints wen't harder, yeah !? Our intensity & disposal has to be surer next time around - re Jimmy Bartels thoughts on OTC last monday night !!

Funny part is that, St Kilda supporters thinks that getting first place is that important. Plus they don’t have the experience or self belief to risk flirting with their form.

Their earnestness about taking it one week at a time and focusing on the job at hand is almost charming.

It's like the week leading upto the 07 granny, and i suppose it was reversed last yr - Bomber's learnt but still careful, it's a laugh really coz if he's captured having a mung on a sanga or straight faced having a crap; he's seen as arrogant !! Don't get me wrong...i like Ross Lyon but see alot of tightness about the saints, look out if they come crashing down for that 1st time this yr come grand final day whoever they play cause they'll need councilling for the rest of there lives....

It actually still looks a good side. It gives plenty of young guys a chance to show whta they have got. Would have been a good game for varcoe to have a decent run in the middle but thats the way it goes.

It will give us abit of insight as to how the future will be.

Curious to see who would of played this week if we had of won last week. They may of pushed a few to play to remain unbeaten knowing that they would get a rest against melbourne.

If we do get up to win (big IF I know) this week, it would have to go down as close to our best win in the last 3 years during the regular season.

We could talk about this game in the same breath as `94 finals win over carlton.

I agree that this is Tenaces IT game. Its now or its never.

Whilst we were undefeated, we had an obligation to put our best team on the park to keep the streak going. The chance at creating history had to be respected, and we chose our team accordingly.

Now that we have lost a game, this is no longer an issue. We are now not taking even the slightest risk with anybody, and we will be resting players for the rest of the year.

This is just week 1 of the post-undefeated era.

The freedom to be more strategic about selection is the only benefit that we have from losing last week.

Tenace is gone regardless of how he plays. He has no future at Geelong. Hopefully though he plays well (for a few weeks maybe???) and he regains a bit of trade value.

Can someone get Sydney's recruiting manager on the line?

If they took Chambers, Spriggs, Playfair off our hands, then anything could happen.

Its funny thinking back to the draft in which we got Kane. All the talk was on Tenace and Kepler Bradley and which one Essendon would take knowing Geelong would take the other. Some thought Essendon would take Tenace as they needed midfielders at the time but took Bradley.

Both were supposed to be super players but have not lived up to their so called potential.

I often think how Bradley would of gone at Geelong.

I also remember hearing that Collingwood were chasing Tenace a couple of years ago. We should of listened.
