Imagine if it was Brisbanes Academy producing 3 top 10 picks this year while they sit top 3 and potentially win a premiership!
Yeah but atleast it might make them realise how unfair it is to the rest of the comp and change it finally

One of them just happened to be touted as one of the best draft prospects in a decade.

Then they’d only be allowed to match a bid on one of them inside the first round (or maybe top 20 - not sure of the precise rule).Imagine if it was Brisbanes Academy producing 3 top 10 picks this year while they sit top 3 and potentially win a premiership!

Dumbest take in this thread so far.and Port have not benefitted from any go home factor recently at all.
No, one.
One of them just happened to be touted as one of the best draft prospects in a decade.
No, one.
A club is limited to matching two top 20 picks if they finish 5-8, and one if they finish top 4.

How the northern academies are transforming footy
Marc McGowan looks at how football generally is benefitting from the northern academy systemwww.afl.com.au
Sort of sounds like Cats 2022. Bring in 3 former top 17 picks and a top 7 draft pick....and not lose a depth player..Imagine if it was Brisbanes Academy producing 3 top 10 picks this year while they sit top 3 and potentially win a premiership!
It’s being fortunate due to playing under different rules, ALL clubs had the opportunity Geelong took advantage of.Sort of sounds like Cats 2022. Bring in 3 former top 17 picks and a top 7 draft pick....and not lose a depth player..

Not the northern clubs with all the first rounders returning Home.. No t all clubs have the chance to prioritise home grown talent through the draft or trade. If your list can be made up of 50 percent home grown...chances are you lessen the odds of losing players .It’s being fortunate due to playing under different rules, ALL clubs had the opportunity Geelong took advantage of.

Show me one club from the Northern states who have had 2 players in their prime ' returning home' in a one or two year period..let alone at all

Edit Beams went home, Neale chose Brisbane, Daniher chose Brisbane, Dunkley chose Brisbane, Lyon, Gunston, McKenna
Probably more there than most Vic clubs in terms of recruiting high quality players.
Here's another example. 11 of Melbourne's list are non Victorian. So that's 25 percent .Of which if the stats are right , they should worry about losing 1.They can’t return home because none of them get to leave.

No not until draftable players from northern states are even close to the rest of the country. Or some retention solution and cost of living solution.Yeah so do you agree Brisbane and Sydney should not be aloud to have access to top academy prospects? Like the rest of the AFL?
I get GC and GWS having access while they are building a club still but there should be a time where they don’t get access aswell
