Jeez Keays really has that look about him.

Reminds me a bit of Omera. ..

He's pretty good but don't burden him with that!

It is Duom Dawam. AIS kid who is build and runs like Manute Bol for those of you old enough.

Yup looks as gangly as all hell. huge length and leap though. Preuss had about 15kgs on him I reckon yet he still did pretty well in ruck contests.

Queensland vs. NSW/ACT is on Fox Footy and AFL.tv via the AFL app for subscribers.

They mentioned in the coverage that Dawson will be out for 4-6 weeks with a fracture scapula. Might hurt his value.

I'll be expecting a very long, detailed writeup from Quigley hopefully.

He's been comfortably QLD's cleanest player coming out of defence. Skills look good.

Keays has been really good.

Really looking forward to watching the replay. Jackson is one prospect I am very interested in that I haven't really seen previously. Glad to hear he had a good game.

I am already sold on Dawson, Hammlemann & Uebergng provided we don't pay a second rounder.jackson could be worth a punt with a late pick or rookie from what I've heard. The other one I'd consider is Cameron-reeves but most likely as a rookie.

Moseley's disposal was wasteful but definitely showed enough. He Keays and Wagner are going to be the big three for next year. Jackson was brilliant, Nate Dennis showed some signs in the first half but needs major work on his disposal. Agree with Swanny10 , although I think Andrews is another possibility. Rayner and Watson have probably been a bit quiet for my liking, I suspect should they miss out this year they will go around again as over-agers. All in all though it's shaping up to be a good draft year for us

Watched both the U/18 matches today; what a maaaaasssivve difference in overall skill / talent between the two matches :footy:

But, with regards to our academy players today, two players stood out head and shoulders above the rest in my opinion:

Hammelmann: Very impressed with him. Skinny kid but broad shoulders and 198cm so likely to end up quite the unit. Knew where to lead and got away from defenders with ease. Also took a couple of nice marks and fed teammates handballs that led to direct shots at goal. Awareness and general reading of play was better than I had expected it to be. His kicking was up and down and he began to lose a little confidence until a strong lead, chest mark & nice goal from 40m in the 2nd quarter got him up and about again. QLD didn't have a lot of I50's in the 2nd half so he was less influential. He'll probably end up a Scott Gumbleton type in the AFL and will be a great get for us :thumbsu:

Keays: Ahhhhh, now I know why Eddie is up in arms with the academies (along with Heeney); this kid is a dead set jet. An underage player not able to be drafted until next year, he was a class above most with 20+ clean disposals and 2 goals. Great left foot kick too. Finds space, reads play well and not afraid to crack in. We may have to use our first round draft pick next year on him which may pose a problem, depending on who bids on him.

Dawson didn't play due to injury. Uebergang was poor. Jackson was solid. Harris Andrews, whilst he didn't get a lot of it, just seems a player capable of playing really good AFL footy. Hope he gets the chance, even if it's a rookie list spot. 199cm too.

More of a forward, only played the mids in stints throughout the champs
Not uncommon with underagers. Top age group tends to get first crack at the full mid roles given there's more on the line for them

I've been on the Keays bandwagon for a while. Wagner and Moseley have shown ability at times but have not performed anywhere near his level. Still another year for them to prove themselves though.

Andrews I would not rule out but would be a slim chance I would have thought at this stage. I like Rayner and Watson but would be surprised if either got drafted. Haven't quite done enough IMO.

Is he an out and out mid?

Capable of both roles. His ability to find space, creativity, goal sense, ability to read the ball off the pack and beautiful finishing means he is a very dangerous half forward. He's also a good tackler and can apply pressure down there.
He is also has the ability to crash in and win clearances via good use of handball in congestion or use his silky skills and clever decision making on the outside.

Will end up a mid who will create some issues for the opposition by rotating through the forward lime. Closest comparison I can think of on the spot is probably Dayne Beams or Maybe Steele Sidebottom. Probably doesn't have the speed of Beams but he is not slow either.

He moves more like Dane Swan I reckon
