Wouldn't worry, that's the first time I have seen Allison mentioned as top 5. Most I have seen say top 10-15 more likely (unless he has a stellar draft year of course)

Wagner hasn't done much today, but one great moment with a fantastic assist to Brent Harvey.

I don't think he'll get much if any senior game time in 2016.

NM board rates him quite highly. "best out of last draft crop" being thrown around a lot. Turner played way early than anyone expected, Wagner will get his chance with Brad if he's good enough.

I spoke to one industry person on Allison and he had him in the top 5 range. He has a lot of weapons, upside and is already playing at a high standard. There is every chance that someone puts a high bid on him.

I'm 50/50 on Allison so far as to think he is a top 15 pick or not. Has a lot of weapons but also from what I've seen needs a lot of improvement on his skills. Has a long kick but needs to be able to hit targets consistently and flatten them a bit. Decision making is a bit slow as well. He can definitely improve on these parts of his game now that he is in his final draft year. If he can act a bit quicker with ball in hand he would be pushing top 10 IMO. This is all from 1 game I saw last year so it might have been an off game for him.

fair enough! Stand corrected!

Has anyone got the player numbers for the Lions Academy v Aspley under 21s game?

Credit to Aspley for putting up some really great quality vision of the game. The only problem is knowing who is who without knowing the players numbers or any commentary.

Brief match report on Lions Academy FB page:

Under 18 Game Report (5/3/16)

After a quick start by our boys with 2 quick goals on the score board the Suns quickly regrouped and hit back in the latter part of the quarter & to go into the 1st break leading by 7 points.

An even 2nd quarter with 2 goals to each team and the game got into an arm wrestle. Lapses in skill execution and decision making with & without the ball allowed the Suns some easy goals.

The 3rd quarter saw the Suns get on top and start to dominate all over the ground and our boy struggled to impact the game.

Last quarter saw some positional changes that had immediate impact generating more run through the midfield allowing us to move the ball quickly from defence into the forwards who were able to capitalise on clean possession.

Final Score: Lions Academy U18 9.6.60 def. by GC Suns U18 11.9.75

Goals: Connor Ballenden 3, Ryan Dadds 2, Sam Copland 1, Lenny Christie 1, Lliam Molan 1, Declan Watson 1

Better Players: Will Fletcher, Nate Dennis, Campbell Walker, Jack Rolls, Ryan Dadds

I had a bit of a look at the team sheet and the preview of the match on the AFLQ page. A few things of note:

- In the preview 4 players were mentioned. Three were Allison, Rolls and Scheer being the AFL Academy kids. The 4th was a bit of a surprise in Nate Dennis. Talked him up a fair bit and by the sounds of it he has improved a great deal. Skills and around the group work seems to have improved a lot from that summary. He is playing as an overager and there is definitely a spot for a ruck if he can step up.

- Paige had Rolls listed at 188cm. He is still listed at 182.5 in the official team sheet.

- Watson seems to have grown a couple of centimetres. He was listed at 192 at the Champs last year but was down as being 194cm now. That couple of centimetres makes a big difference to me when we are talking KPDs.

- Ballenden measured in at 198cm and picked up 3 goals in the match as a bottom ager. Suddenly we look like we might have an excess of talent coming through in the forward half.

Yeah if Dennis can have a good overage year I would have no problem giving him a rookie list spot. We all know ruckmen take longer to develop. Ballenden is a name that all Lions fans are looking out for, lets just hope that he continues to develop as we all hope.

No such thing!

I remember one night at the Gabba (about 2004 from memory)...we had Brown, Lynch, Bradshaw, White and Keating in our F50!!!

Ahhhhhh, good times :D

I still think Lenny Christie, a tallish HFF type, might be a wildcard come draft time, but of course that depends a lot on championships form.

He's certainly got the physique now to play AFL (and did last year at age 17), very well put together.

I remember you raising his name earlier (also quick google search helps). How has he been tracking thus far? Have you gotten to see him down at Grange over the pre-season?

It is going to be good to see other names also get thrown up. Like last year we won't be able to get all of them (Chol, Wagner and co) but that's not such a bad thing. So currently some names are Allison, Rolls, Christie and Molan.

Nate Dennis and Declan Watson as well.

I haven't seen Lenny this year as trials for the Wilston Grange seniors have just started, so I'm only going on last year's form at the moment.

I'm certainly not suggesting that Christie is definitely draft material, primarily because he tends to mix his form and I'm a bit unsure about his temperament, but the raw talent and physique are there so he must be at least a chance of being picked up.

Cheers for that, he's only a young fella and thought that in regards to his form. I posted ages ago in regards to your first post about hoping he takes the next step. I've played with plenty of indigenous fellas and just loved their natural skill. Long season to go and a lot can happen but he is part of the academy and also has been part the 'boomerangs' so he's definitely there abouts. Fingers crossed for the young man.
