 It is fairly obvious that we are a bit Fevcentric at the moment and need another big option down forward.

The options are Harlett (if he can stay fit), or maybe Austin could come in as another big backman and let Waite go forward or, perhaps we could use Ackland as CHF and he could also pinch hit as a Ruckman when we go forward.

I know this is from left field and I have been a ferocious critic of Ackland in the past. But he seems to be doing the job in the Ants at the moment (7 last week against Collingwood and 8 this week against Geelong), and as a result, the Ants have won the last 2 games.

We desperately need another big body down forward and Ackland could be the answer. Thoughts.......:)

Piss off no way is that hack every going to play seniors. He has had plenty of chances, I would rather play Edwards, Hartlett or one of our other kids. They are the way forward not going back to some piss weak hack.

It couldn't hurt to trial it, he's very aggressive and would atleast be able to bring the ball to ground for our small forwards/mids. Probably prefer Hartlett to invest for the future but yeah, I guess I am for it.

Not physical enough at the elite level and will get run off big time, perhaps closer to goal but i would like to see another kid get a go for future development, so if Hartlett is fit i would play him or bring in Austin to release Waite forward or to the wing drifting forward.

He holds no role in the future of our side, but I have a feeling that we're going to see him reappear for the Blues next week as a forward.

He's been in very good form, and that should be rewarded, no matter who he is.

We're really struggling up forward and need another option. If he comes back in to the side it won't be to ruck but to help us with another strong body up in the forward line.

I'm not completely against it and it will be a very good test for Hartlett to try and work his way in the team by pushing Ackland out.

Lol very aggressive? Since when? I don't want him at the club come seasons end he is a weak hack, enough said

Who do you think goes out Jeremias if they do try him as i am thinking the same that he will get another try shortly, Will it be a small or will they bite the bullet with someone like Fisher and play Cloke permanent forward, will be interesting at selection this week.

FFS I hope he wont get another go we have given him too many chances as it is, him and a lot of others. I think all we have to say is hit the road jack, like I keep saying time to get rid of the dead wood and he is certainly part of that dead wood.

Hey i agree with you but i cant help but think that they will try him again.

Not sure if its the best idea...but remember reading some comments at the start of last year about how he is an extremely good lead and pretty straight kick...he is 196cm after all and fully matured physcially...if he's kicking bags of goals in the VFL he might be worth a try at CHF...at long as he is accountable in the defensive aspects of the game...who knows, we may have been putting a square peg in a round hole...my frustration with his rucking efforts says let him do it another couple of weeks in a row in the VFL before giving him another chance though.

I think he is aggressive. Probably one of his good sides to his games. He doesn't have the skill, but for a target up forward I wouldn't say no. Calling him a weak hack is pretty low from yourself btw.

it is not going to work long-term for Ackland to play forward, he'll have to contend with far superior opposition than the VFL.

How many ruckman/forwards are there in the AFL? Not many, Hale & Petrie come to mind but not may others.

Go with Hartlett he has shown glimpses that he could make it. Of course he could get injured again, but he seems to have had less injuries this year, maybe each year he'll have less & less.

If a finals campaign was our primary focus this year I could see the merit in using Ackland to fill this role.

But with development being our primary focus this year and Hartlett, Edwards and Austin all requiring games, I couldn't justify giving Ackland a game.

I'd even go as far as to suggest if Edwards' or Hartletts' form warranted a game based Bullants form I would bring one of them in for Fish.

Well throw your membership away because if a Carlton listed player kicks 15 goals in 2 weeks in the seconds and our obvious deficincy ATM is CHF then it is a very strong chance that bloke is going to get a run.

As much as Ackland has frustrated me and others in the past, if he is in good form and has kicked 15 Goals in the last 2 weeks HE must be given a go.

And these people who continually call players names and threaten to not renew memberships...Piss off to the Richmond FC. :thumbsu:

If it was anyone else but Ackland I would agree, but the fact is this guy has shown the least amount of ticker as any player i have seen this year in the navy blue.

Always love to be proven wrong though.

Ackland has been tried and found wanting at SENIOR AFL LEVEL, which is huge difference from VFL level, he has no future at Carlton beyond this year so he should not be considered he is a very ordinary player, Hartlett & Edwards must be given the opportunity to see if they have a future beyond this year in particular Hartlett who after four years in the system needs to show something in the remaining eight rounds.
