Before i start i have to say im seem to be starting this end of year review on players who are fighting for a spot:D:D:D

Bentick has played some awsome games over the years. He is 23 has good attack on the ball, takles like these no tomorrow and seems to get alot of the ball. But he has poor disposal, poor pace and not very good reader of the game. I can't fit him to my 22 but i can see him being traded to gold coast:D

Bentick would be a good trade to Sydney, I feel.
I jsut can't see a position for him in our side from here on in, unless it was dead centre, but that won't happen.

Would be a great fit at Sydney, the small SCG ground would really suit him

1 good game in 10.....has played his last game for Carlton......good luck next year wherever you end up after being delisted

Well, im gonna go against the trend. I like him. Yes, i agree, his disposal isnt great & he's kind of slow, but his ability to win the ball in the stoppages & his tackle count simply impresses me. He adds depth to us & id like to think that if he could improve his disposal, he could continue his career in the Navy Blue.

With Rattens emphasis being solely on quality of disposal, I think Adam may find it difficult to get a spot in the team. I think we need players like him with regards to his work ethic, toughness and tackling ability but the disposal is a problem. I actually got no problem with his speed TBH, while he isn't quick at all, he finds a fair bit of the footy, his defensive work is very good and I really like his work ethic.

Still young but I think most of his work this year will be done for the Ants in the VFL.

I don't know why everyone's bagging his disposal. It's not stellar, but it's not below average either. His problem is consistency. He'll play two great games then go missing for a third. If someone else steps up and does the job every week instead of most, they'll slip in ahead of him. Come on Dexter, maintain the intensity.

Ideally I see AB roving to a winning ruck with the job of beating the opposition's best stoppage person but I do not want him thinking tackles, I want the MC to tell him he will be judged on how many clearances he is part of. If Diesel is doing anything at CFC - it has to be working with AB. AB should be firing out handball to his fleet of foot teamates and opening up passages for Juddy but first of all he has to get a game

Ideally Hartlett will be the best CHF in the comp and Edwards will take over from Fev when he retires and be a 100 goal FF, and I get to lay Maria Sharapova.........but lets live in the real world

I dont think thats it - I think its more that there a certain small number of opponents that he can match up well on and most of the others he cant.

I dont think his intensity or effort can be questioned.

Its just that he is a limited footballer at this level.

Underated. If he can maintain his better form consistently he will hold his place in the side.

Will find it difficult to break into the side, especially considering the depth of talent we have now.

Can't see his next contract being renewed unfortunately.

I would say fortunately

1 good one in 10 is a ridiculous comment but that could be something you aspire to with your posting. Carlton supporters:confused:

Yeah ok he is super player now that I have my rose coloured glasses on......now that I have taken them off he is a spud with a great attitude.

Glasses back on and Harts and Edwards will be superstars. I have seen enough of these guys to form an opinion and my opinion is that they are not AFL standard nor do they look like they will become so ( noted Edwards is still very young)

Mate I call it as I see it, and am entitled to my opinion, and Im not one of those that reckons everyone on the list is good or has enough potential, simply because the list is Carlton's.

Stats show that less than half players drafted make it, yet some on this board rate every player on our list. Carlton supporters:confused:

And if you read the thread you can see that there are others that doubt Bentick will be on the list next year and struggle for a game this year...........happy now Mrs Bentick ?

After Ratt's old #7 has been retired for a year, it will be quite interesting to see where it heads...can't be too often that a player is given his senior coach's premiership jumper number.

Relevance to a players ability ?
It wasnt Ratten who was coach when Bentick got #7 although he did endorse it.............did u expect him to say NO....I dont want Bentick to have it.

Do you think every player that is given the number of a former great will succeed ?.....I will jog your memory on such issues.......Jezzas 25 was retired for years until given to Frank Marchesani......he lasted a season and was delisted.

the MC makes mistakes....as does everyone

None, but the thread is called Adam Bentick, not Adam Bentick's Ability.

No need for a witch hunt, I was simply pointing out that after Bentick's time at Carlton is up (which will be sooner rather than later according to most posts in here) and the #7 is retired for a year, it would present an interesting scenario on account of how rare it would be...

Thought you were refering to the scenario in which Bentick got the number, not what will happen once he loses it which has not been decided yet, according to many on here he is well worth his place on our team and definately our list

Doubt the number will be retired if Bentick gets delisted

Thought it was pretty clear that I was referring to the novelty of a senior coach giving his own premiership jumper number to one of his young charges.

I never suggested that Bentick would be delisted, I specifically did not speculate as to how long he had left on our list or under what circumstances he would depart, the only thing I really speculated about was Ratten remaining senior coach longer than Bentick will be a senior player, do you not agree?
