He hasn't even played 50 games ffs give the guy a chance.
His first season at Collingwood, he will improve with a good preseason.

Not even close. What went wrong?

lol.... you gotta be kidding. Quotes a BF post and then asks why it didn't happen....geez. I'm sure I can find a quote on BF that says that Frankie Razo would be a copeland winner....or maybe ben kinnear...lol ....nice thread

Coaching as much as Adams himself. Yes, he's been butchering the ball in all but one or two games, but he's been playing as a half back flanker or an outside runner for half the year. It's for development and to round out his game while Ball is still around which will hold him in good stead later on, but it's clearly not his natural thing.

He is very much a "see ball, get ball, dispose of ball" type player. Good for inside extraction, firing off quick handpasses and the quick clearance kick in congestion. Not so good in open space trying to size up leading targets and moving zones. I was a fan of him getting an extended run in the AFL, but if he isn't going to be played in his natural position every single game, then he'd be better off in the VFL playing as an outside mid, learning how to become a more consistent kick and better decision maker in open space.

I think this is a good post.

He'll move into the midfield eventually when Ball and Swan retire. Both these guys are average kicks as well...but it is less of an issue when you are playing an in and under role or winning 30+ disposals consistently.

This could be a nick-changing kind of moment. Will Adams be consigned to be a hack..... and then turn out to be a megastar and force the high-profile BF poster to crawl away with his tail between his legs and change his nick? It's one of those moments that BF is famous for...

btw we have to wait probably 5 years to get the answer and by then everyone has forgotten the question..

I think he as taking the piss, nothing went wrong I don't think I thought he would track similar to Caddy who was in and out of the Geelong side last year and looked ready to have a break out year this year. (Before he broke his foot)

Better to ask the guy that said he won't become an instant star over night.

You don't have an opinion? Here was I thinking you had all the answers.

We have to get him into the centre of the ground as soon as possible.
Put Ball on a flank or the interchange bench.
We need to get the kids confidence up.

Also, we can't play Ball, Adams and JT in the same team again.
They all play the same game and we need more run and outside carry.

Like for like replacement for Ball if you ask me. Recruited as an in and under mid feeding it out to the other mids.

A friend of mine recently went to a lunch where a Collingwood person was at, question was asked after a while to this person, what the hell were we thinking with recruiting Adam? The reply was, gee we thought he was better than that, we are sort of shock at what we are currently seeing ( something like that ) they still hold hopes of him improving.....I guess you would hope so.

With Ball out for this game, it is NOW that Adams has to stand up and make his mark.
If he fails again he might be playing VFL for a while.

I'm not questioning what your friend heard, but I would be amazed if the club did not know what they were doing when recruiting Adams, given the sensitivity of the Heater trade. If we seriously overestimated his skills/ability, then that is a significant issue, and not at all consistent with Hine's record (if Hine is responsible).

Adams will improve; he is being played out of position.

He is operating at 66 percent efficiency for disposals. I am buggered if I can find the league average, but Pendles goes around at high seventies. So he is well behind the best, and I would wager he is slightly below average. He does win a lot of ball, but if you look at his stats over his career, he has never been a good kick. He has averaged 60 and 62 DE before he came to us.

It was reported that it was down to you guys and us.
We ended up with Anthony Miles and couldn't be happier.
A lot cheaper and has played better footy

Yeah but in terms of disposals he has more handballs than kicks...most players go 85-95% efficiency for handballs so for him to be 66% overall with more handballs than kicks in that stat has to indicate his kicking efficiency must be truly horrible.
