In his interview with 5AA yesterday he said that if the job was in Melbourne he would have taken it 5 weks ago. The fact his wife runs he own small business and he has kids in school, sounds like at later part of high school, meant it took longer for him to make up his mind and see if he could make the move work for the family.

I really wish you people would get over the Melbourne part of things. Trust me, Adelaide is a great place

There is no "thing" to get over. Laidley himself, who this thread is about, said he would have accepted the job 5 weeks ago if it was in Melbourne. It is irrelevant what you or I think about Melbourne or Adelaide as to what Laidley would do.

I'm going to go along with you on this, mostly due to your username, but I do think there is a persecution complex rife amongst South Australians regarding Victorians.

Do you think so? Or do you think that alot of Victorians are completely disrespectful to S.A? I have read many threads in the Nth Melb forum alone how S.A is a shithole and only the scum of the earth live there and then recite the numerous incidents with ferral supporters. This seems to come across in most Victorian threads, but funnily enough not in the other state forums.

Personally consdiering Laidley's lifecycle and family commitments it makes sense he would have stayed there first option. But he won't regret living here, to raise kids adelaide is an A greade city.

No, I can't say I've ran across them. I've certainly never instigated them. There maybe the odd shit can of Motlop but other than that I think you're clutching at straws,

Re: Its Official: Laidley joins Power

As someone who has lived in Adelaide and Melbourne and then saw the light and moved to Brisbane, it always amuses me to see the rivalry between Adelaide and Melboune.

Melbourne is just like a big Adelaide (they are both conservative cities with a similar feel) - if you really want something different go to Sydney or Brisbane.

I actually preferred Adelaide to Brisbane. Look, there's noithing wrong with Adelaide, other than the water. If anything, it is an improvement in a few area's. The people are nicer and the women are more attractive - even in the little places you've never heard of. The only criticism, other than the water, is it can be a little boring. But that's probably the way the people like it and if that's the case then more power to them.

Have a troll through bay 13 to start with.

Then have a look through most Vic club forums where people talk about where to stay in Adelaide etc etc

You do realise that nine times out of ten it's a wind up?

And as for Bay 13, it's designed for the shitholes, what did you expect? Check out some of the threads started about North, you'll get the picture.

Fellow supporters winding each other up about how ferral Adelaide and the people that live there are?

That's a matter for you and the Crow fans to sort out. If we're talking Adelaide itself, then I'll be the first to say that I think it's quite a nice place.

Re: Its Official: Laidley joins Power

The fact that Adelaide is refered to as a bogan, shit hole, feral place with no culture is basically a stereotype and a punchline.

For example on that Spearment Project show the other night, it was about Cashed up Bogans and of course our Lleyton got a nomination. Merrick Watts comes on and basically says 'being from Adelaide he's gonna be a bogan any rate blah blah blah".

The funny thing is Merrick Watts, a Victorian, living in Sydney has a holiday house in Port Willunga and gets back there as often as he can. He got married at The Star of Greece and has basically said that if he didn't have his work committments, that's where he would be living. Adelaide is used often by comedians as an easy punchline

I do agree though that many Victorian's do have an inbred genetic disorder that makes them have an inbuilt distain for anything South Australian, but then again they also have an inbuilt inferiority complex of anything Sydney.

Mate, I'm not getting on the defensive, I'm just saying how it is. I agree with pretty much what you said. Adelaide is a great place to live but suffers from being a little boring, a bit too conservative and I suppose the waters not great although you do get used to it. I personally cringe when idiots like Graham Cornes harp on about the bloody Victorians, or our paper always comparing what Adelaide is doing to Melbourne (Melbourne is 3 x bigger ffs) or even the stupid West End Beer ads. Adelaide just suffers from a perception largely built up by those who haven't even been here.

So at the the end of the day for all our disagreements we actually agree. You remind me a bit of Porthos. We had a lot of disagreements but we wound up agreeing with each other. So whats the go on Gray? Have we made any ground there? :)
