I think in all seriousness we did pretty well. We brought in a good combination of young talent and experience which should fill in our holes nicely. I guess the only query left on our list is Rucking Depth.

Mackay is contracted until the end of 2015. Odds are that he will still be around then - particularly given the dead wood & retirements we have to deal with before his name is even mentioned.

Smack, on the other hand, is out of contract and very close to the top of the list of players facing the axe.

If he improves, we may want to keep and if he doesnt we have no choice but to keep him.

I wonder if he has a shocking 2014, whether we may just want to pay him out?

A player is not worth just the cost of what we pay him there is all sorts of additional expenses for a club to keep a player on its list.

Why on earth would they pay him out when they have so many others who are well ahead of him in the exit queue?

• Rutten & Thompson may be retiring.
• Jaensch, Martin, L Thompson & Graham are all near certainties to be delisted.
• Porps would be a likely delistee as well.
• Smack, LJ & Shaw all need to show something in 2014 or they could be facing curtains.
• Atkins & Siggins will probably be looked at closely as well.

All of those players would be delisted before they even consider Mackay's position. That's 12 players, or 24% of our senior list. There is a slim chance that he may be traded at the end of the year, unlikely given how their attempts to do so failed this year. There is not a snowball's chance in Hell that they'll pay out his contract and delist him in 2014.

The fact that you don't like him is obvious. To suggest that they should delist him, ahead of any of the players listed above, is just plain ludicrous. Sometimes you need to think a bit further ahead and realise the implications of the list changes that you propose.

Actually I dont dislike him, I wish he would be a better player that I know that he can be. With competition for spots to heat up next year, it is a make or break year for him for his AFL career.

I would have him well ahead of your boyfriend in VB.

I hope Smack has an awesome year, will help his trade value. Im sure he is literally on the cusp of being delisted.

I think we've done very well in the offseason. For all those saying we haven't met needs, I disagree.

One of our biggest needs is skill particularly by foot. Betts, Cameron, Battersby, Spina and Knight all have nice skills (particularly the first 3 who are elite).

We have also added some running power although I would have liked one to have elite line breaking pace.

Many appear critical of the Jake Kelly selection but I believe we needed another running half back with good size.

I think we did OK! Could have done a better job of it in the trade weeks and been a bit more aggressive.

As with everything proof will be in the pudding. We will know in about 3 years time.

We have a good list, I'm glad we didn't get Polec he has a bad attitude and sounds like a jerk.
