I personaly would love to go see a Crows game at adelaide oval. The atmosphere is Fantastic and is just a great ground to watch sport at. I wonder what that chances would be of say the western bulldogs selling a home game and playing it at adelaide oval against the crows?

Zero to none, IMO

Bulldogs can play in Darwin for all I care..................... :p

Q: - if we played a game at AO.....who gets to go ???

Just Gold / Captains Club etc - fine by me but you'd have 20-odd thousand pretty peed off silvers and walk up ticket buyers

not workable IMO - I love going there to watch Sanfl + Cricket but an AFL ground it aint

I can't see that happening because the crowd capacity at the oval is only about 33 000. It would be a change from AAMI though, and it's a nice place to go and watch SANFL footy or the cricket. I can't see AFL ever been played there though.

I wanted to do a tourism assignment on the issue, at school. But, there's not much of an argument, especially from the Crows point of view because Adelaide Oval doesn't hold a big enough crowd.

No chance whatsoever.

SANFL hate SACA & visa a versa. Hatred goes back more than 30 years to when Bradman was in charge of SACA. All stems from SACA arrogance with regard to compensation to SANFL for SACA members rights to free entry to footy.

The AFL understands this as the same thing in Melbourne led to the building of VFL Park.

The SACA laughed when they decided to build footy park & Bradman said there was only room for 1 stadium in Adelaide. He was right as Adelaide Oval has been getting further & further behind ever since.

If I had my way they would bulldoze the "prettiest cricket ground in the world", play cricket at AAIMI until they built a 21st century stadium holding 50-60,000 where Adelaide Oval is now then scrap footy park & play both games at the new ground.

Unfortunately I am sure this will never happen in my lifetime.

BULLDOZE ADELAIDE OVAL????

Where's your sense of history or nostalgia, it is the only sporting ground in Australia left with any character. That is one of the most disgraceful suggestions that I've ever heard.

What about Lord's, the ground is on a slope and probably a bit outdated but should they bulldoze that? These are the grounds where legends have been made, have you heard of Bodyline? What do they do with the old scoreboard?

Because of the 2006 Comm. games the MCG has lost all of this, they might be replicating the old members stand but it will never be the same.

You're an IDIOT!

The only chance of AFL at AA is a Wizard Cup game or if Bulldogs play a home game there against a non-Adelaide team during the Commonwealth games.

SACA has already approached Geelong about playing a non-Adelaide team home game at AA during Commonwealth games. According to Brian Cook they considered it quite seriously but decided not to.

SANFL will strongly resist any AFL footy in Adelaide played anywhere but AAMI stadium.

On another point, rumour is that Cheltenham Race course will be sold by the SAJC some time in the next few years. I would love to see the state government buy it for "future purposes".

It's one of the few sites in metro adelaide that is big enough and in an appropriate position to build another major stadium. Not that we need one just yet, but I'm trying to think long term. I'm sure it'd never but it's nice to dream.

I hope it doesnt happen in your lifetime or anyone else's for that matter.
It is a great oval, the surface is second to none, the whole vibe of the oval is just unreal.
Nothing better on a summers day watching Australia in a ODI under lights....I love the oval.
The world cup rugby was awesome there too.
Best ground in the country bar MCG.

Games at Adelaide Oval will never happen in the foreseeable future.
The SANFL and AFL have a long-term agreement that ALL AFL matches played in Adelaide will take place at Football Park. Since SANFL own the licences of both the Crows and the Power neither of these clubs will be breaking that agreement.

The SACA are trying to get a non-Crows, non-Power game at the Adelaide Oval

e.g. Bulldogs play one of their home games here against a non-SA team during the Commonwealth Games.

I believe the SANFL can still refuse but I can't see why they would, the SACA would not be stealing any of the SANFLs market, they would be creating a new market.

They struggled to get the parking right for yesterday's SANFL games - I had to park 10 minutes walk away because they had the car park full sign up only to see virtually empty parklands when I got there. Not chuffed.

I got a $47 fine for parking onWar Memorial Drive next to the golf course, as did about 500 other poeple. Blatant revenue raising and an insult to all SANFL fans.

Jade Sheedy's girlfriend (nice lass) parked next to us as she was locked out of the car park even though she had a pass to park there.

Based on my experience watching SANFL finals at Adelaide - great atmosphere but very poor parking facitlities. Getting into the ground was a nightmare.

Yep! Bulldoze the dump. Half a dozen glorified tin sheds with salt damp in what brickwork there is & wood rot in the crappy wooden benches that passes for seating in the members.

Crap facilities, the world’s worse stand (Bradman), holds about 50 people, not even directly behind the bowlers arm & provides absolutely no shade in summer. The Chappell stands are no more than a couple of glorified school tuck shops with some seats on top & a couple 2nd hand old circus tents on top of those.

Struggles to hold 30,000, which is about twice a year, & when it does you can't get anything to eat or drink.

The surface is ok as it should be seeing it is completely underutilised, but even so Les Burdett wants to dig it up because the drainage is not up to scratch.

If you want to look at the cathedral go to church. If you want to look at fig trees go to the botanic gardens. I want a world class modern stadium in my city (because we deserve one) that is close to the CBD that we can be proud of, not some ancient, antiquated, mouldering dump that someone tells me is "delightful" as they give all the major tournaments & events to interstate venues because we don't have one that is up to standard.

Oh yeh I've heard of Lords. Seen the press centre? Oh yeh that’s charm.

Have you heard of Wembley, or Yankee Stadium?

Your attitude is exactly what is wrong with our city & our state. Don't change anything, don’t improve anything leave it as it is as the whole lot decays before our eyes.

You my friend are the idiot.

Yes the SANFL can still refuse, and they probably will.
Their point being why not play the match at Footy Park?
