[The Passenger]

i'm trying to compile a database for Footy Fanatic (amongst other things) and just posting the guys on your list in the order i believe to be the best players to the worst on your list.

Please feel free to comment on any players i have grossly out of position in terms of their rank, positions, D/O/B, State of Origin etc,. etc,.

also it would be good if you could tell me what guys have now made their debuts.

I am also unaware of who are the veterans on any AFL list.

Well Smart is a "veteran outside the list" and Hart is a "veteran inside the list"... if that makes sense.

Very good effort Macca. If everyone was fit, Mark Stevens would be much higher up (if only!) & would have Welshy top-10 & Goody above Edwards just to be pedantic.

Player list: max of 38 (and a min of 37 I think?)
Vets list: max of 2
Rookie list: max of 6 minus size of vets list

As I understand it, Ben Hart is in the first category, but still for some reason the club gets the perk of halving his salary in cap calculations.

He has played most of his junior footy as a forward. Last year it was a development year for him and he was played everywhere from FB to FF. From all reports he has played his best footy last year when he was played in "outside" positions (HFF, Wing, HBF). Gary sees him as a wingman down the track. He cartainly has all the attributes it will be up to him to develop and in time it will probably come down as to where he is of most value to a team.

Pretty close. The minimum number applies to the combined total of the primary list and the veteran's list. The reason you leave a space on your veteran's list is because a rookie can be promoted into that spot without a long term injury.

Also i have compiled a list of approximate salaries.

The salary cap in the game is 5.5 million, and Adelaide are pretty much right on that.

If any of these are majorly off just let me know.

It would also be appreciated if you could tell me off any guys who are off contract at the end of 2004 (if you know of them), and if you know how long some of the guys are contracted for.

Would have thought Hart, Goodwin, Edwards, M Stevens, Smart, etc would be around the mark on the 2nd tier. Stiffy can expect to join them when he renegotiates his contract next.
