Hi All.

Just wondering if any of the Adelaide BigFooty people could tell me about the Adelaide Test.

My questions are in order of importance....

1) Can you get in with an esky full of cold ones?

2) Will I need to book tickets for the Sunday, or just get them on the day at the ground?

3) Where's the best place to sit....looking forward to sitting on the hill, any spot better than another for some reason?

Cheers!

1) It's not legal but its dooable. Just get a big esky and cover over the beer with food and hope security don't check too hard

Problem is that if you sit on the hill there is more security there and the only beer in the non members areas' for international matches is West End GOld!! Very hard to get pissed on it. Its mid-strength.

2) you should be ok getting a ticket as it is never sold out

You generally get 20-25,000 for the test. The one day match with Australia in is always old out now however since it became day night.

Its also about $5 cheaper to buy one at the gate.

3) Hill is best spot for general admission as it is a real entertainig day with plenty of laughts, ferals and chicks in bathers.

Bradman stand is magnificent for the more sedate viewer of the game but you will need a pre-paid ticket which costs a bit more.

Nothing beats the Adelaide test match in my view

Went to the MCG on the day after boxing day about 5 years ago which was nowhere near as good. Sat second row of the Great Southern.

We could have a BigFooty get together on the Hill.

yep...depends what you want to do....

Really sit and watch the game...Bradman Stand

Get tanked and have a laugh (with no memory of the game itself)...under the scoreboard.

A nice compromise can be the Bar on the grass just to the left of the Bradman stand (when looking from the scoreboard).

Family day...bring a chair and sit under the Fig trees....fantanstic.

Satay Mat

Thanks guys!

Yeah, looking forward to sitting on the hill and watching the cricket. I miss that in Sydney.

I've always wanted to go to the Adelaide Oval, looks like such a great place to watch a test match....can't wait!

I'd be keen to meet up for a few beers....I'll probably be going on the Sunday and Monday (3rd and 4th days I think).

I became a member of the SACA a few years ago and love the members stand. Close to the play and full strength beer. The bars and tents behind the stands are great too and you'd be amazed how many people don't see a ball bowled.

The Bradman stand is a fantastic veiw but gets damn hot by late afternoon. Can't beat the hills at either end on the ground.

Jars, I just bought my tickets for day two of the boxing day test in the second level of the Southern stand. Three tickets and a lazy $191 later you tell me that its rubbish. Thanks mate.

No - it was good - great view.

I was probably just pissed off Gillespie injured himself after bowling a bouncer that went over Healey's head.

Just not as good as Adelaide Oval

But then again - what is??????

MCG on Crows premiership day perhaps.

Haven't been to the G before for cricket but my tickets are right behind the umpire (Not the S/leg umpire). Last time I was at the 'G' Bungi was playing havoc with the Tiges.

Better make the most of it because I won't have another reason to go there before September.

I'd spend a day sitting at the Adelaide Oval even if there wasn't any sport happening at all. Love the place.

Now you are bringing back bad memories for me.....please refrain:p

Just thought I'd pretty much back up everyone's sentiments here, under the fig trees on the first day is a good spot, cool breeze on a hot day, wonderful atmosphere.

This year of course I'll be able to have a 'legal' drink so I might move closer to the scoreboard with some mates and enjoy the day from there.

I went to the second day of the Boxing Test the last time the South Africans came over and I agree with you Jars458, there was plenty of empty seats and the atmosphere left much to be desired. Wasn't until Warney came on late in the day (with everyone chanting, "Warney, Warney") and picked up Cronje cheaply that things picked up.

Briedis, you'll love the Adelaide Test at the Oval, have a good one :)
