If you're under 30.

If you're over 30, you just call the Roos.

For the record....

Although the Roos' list has the second oldest average age (25.35) and tops the competition for most games played (90.4 a player), it includes 24 players aged 25 and under and just six 30 or older.

Winning finals is a hell of a lot of fun. You're maybe too young to remember.

Come on man. No one is impressed by the Roos beyond acknowledging they are a 'decent' side.

I don't particularly care if anyone is impressed by us.

I just had a poke to see if your 8 million claims about Ryder being one of the best rucks in the comp checked out. He was about 200-300 hit-outs behind any other decent number one ruckman, but at 549 hit-outs it was the most he'd ever had in a season. For reference, Goldstein this season had 1,058...

'Jake Carlisle, Essendon and St Kilda aren’t close. It’s little wonder. Carlisle has attitude problems stemming back several years and has played six good games in two years.

The Bombers, however, reckon he’s the best thing they’ve seen since Terry Daniher and want pick No. 5 from the Saints. He’s not worth pick No. 5, but nor is he worth anything later than, say, pick No. 15.

There is haggling to be done there and the teams will only get closer if reality enters the deal.'

There's no point asking for reality if neither team has a middle ground IMO. Saints don't want to give 5, Essendon don't want to take 24 and there's bugger all in between. I can't see trading picks being likely. Where do you go from there?

Have them sweeten it with a 3rd round pick or risk losing him for nothing?

St Kilda are exploring ways of turning pick five into two first round draft selections, to try to deliver a pick to Essendon for Jake Carlisle while maintaining a first-round presence in the draft.

The Saints are not willing to sacrifice pick five in the draft for Carlisle alone, but have begun examining options that would effectively see them swap that pick for the key defender and another reasonably high selection.

Adelaide or the Gold Coast shape as the clubs most able to help break the stand-off between the clubs, but up to five teams have indicated some interest in pick five.

The Paddy Dangerfield deal to Geelong left the Crows holding four selections inside 35 - 9, 13, 28 and 32 - while the Suns could hold a similarly strong hand after trading Charlie Dixon and Harley Bennell.

The Suns want at least Port Adelaide's pick 10 this year - and reportedly the Power's first round pick next year as well - for Dixon. Fremantle would be likely to have to hand over pick 16 to the Suns for Bennell. That would leave Gold Coast with picks 3, 10, 16, 19 and 22 in the draft.

Complicating this plan would be Essendon's threat to take pick four to the same clubs in a bid to strike a similar pick-slide deal and one-up the Saints

Is this thread still going?

That must mean, um, EFC supporters must still be stickin fat with Dodo against his universal rap.

Surely denying reality must be getting old?...specially when it's over something as unimportant as Dodo....the man that has delivered 0 finals wins in more than a decade.
Given how bad people tell us we are, we must simply be happy to avoid the spoon. Whats that like?

Honestly, if the Saints were to get 2 first round picks that would be a big win for both sides.

For St Kilda to get Carlisle and still have a high first round pick would be massive.

And the Bombers would be pleased to get the first round pick they are after, meaning they go into the draft with two first round picks, a good head start into a rebuild.

That's nice.

Wondering if you also checked my 8 million posts about Ryders 'total' game.

We have won 4 finals in 2 years and finished in the top 4. If we are just decent I would be interested to hear your rating of essendon.

I would have thought decent was reserved for middle of the road 7-10 sides. Not with the top teams but not putrid enough to finish bottom 4.

I'm still not seeing it…

I think it fair enough to dig your heals in on required players. Ryder was CONTRACTED and incredibly important. The club was within its rights to make him stay. The deal got done and a compromise was made but I think most Port supporters would be pretty happy with the results whereas most bombers would feel slightly hard done by. Port have priors... They let Nick Stevens go into the pre-season draft and fought tooth and nail to drive a better deal for Burgoyne. Donyou remember their initial posturing and demands?

The Kepler Bradley example is made-up as he was a spud and I think the club would have taken whatever it could get for him… A bit like what it did with Gumbleton.

The Bachar Houlli is equally about Richmond refusing to compromise as it is Essendon. Again they got the better end of the deal as they managed to pick up a player who has played over 100 games for the club and would only put up a pick in the 40's to get him.

I also remember GC demanding Hurley to go with its 1st rounder for Josh Caddy. We countered with Hooker but that wasn't enough...

Respected football personalities such as Leigh Matthews have suggested that they think 5 is a fair trade for Carlisle and to be frank, I respect his opinion more than most of you guys (no offence).

Maybe if he'd played more than 26 games in four seasons at Essendon he might have been valued by Richmond a little more. As such he was a player we thought we could use, but with such limited exposure to senior football there was still a risk on our behalf.

Have we forgotten EFC fans and the blind loyalty for Hird already? On that basis Dodo will be the Dustin Fletcher of list management. (Length not skill)

That basically says it all re:Essendon and their delusions at the trade table. Theyd do something like this to spite St Kilda and then lose Carlisle for nothing.

Essendon are about six kinds of shit...

I assume you're talking about the 20 goals he kicked?

Yeah he's basically Plugger and Justin Madden rolled into one

Your infantile comment aside, yes, his 20 goals. And his 13-ish disposals a game, his 80 clearances, 50 inside 50s...... the bloke had an all round game that was at or near the top of all ruckman.

Now remembering that your initial foray into this conversation was to refute the idea that Ryder was among the top few rucks in the game at the end of 2014; I dare say we've shown that to be complete crap by a poster that honestly doesn't know what they're on about.
