Matt Rendell was the Recuiting Manager over both trades and draft. If you remember it was Matt who went to the AFC board and told them they should take the deal that Brisbane offered for Tippett.
You really need to do your homework before sprouting off things you have no idea about.

Yeah, recruiting manager, who oversees the DRAFTS. He does have input into the trade period as draft picks get floated around, but the list manager (which is Noble) has the ultimate final say. Rendell reported to Noble, it's not a hard concept to understand and I don't quite get what's confusing you. Just email the club if you don't believe us.

How does everyone know someone who knows someone? Even all the newbies are mates with a journo, or player, or coach, or list manager, or parent, or insider.

Another who might give this thread a miss 'til it's all said and done.

It's a popcorn thread, not an information thread (at least, that's what I heard from a mate who knows FOR SURE)

Rendell was our list manager during that trade and other people have credited Hamish woth that trade. However he was totally responsible for getting Angus Graham to our club.

What is it, you clown? List manager or recruiting manager? About a dozen people posted links to articles that said Noble was list manager during the Crouch trade, including one that named and quoted him.

What's the point of linking an article that said that Rendell "drafted" him? Yes, with a pick that Noble had traded for, specifically to get pick two in the mini draft!

Give up, you're doing nothing other than look like a fool.

Are you comparing Croad to Danger? Croad wouldn't be fit to clean Dangers boots..

Nobody can guarantee that a top 5 pick will definitely be a superstar. Too many have not become one. To trade your marquee player for a risky proposition, and probably a Vic kid you'll have to convince not to go back home at some stage, is not clever.

Given Melbourne have already indicated that picks 2 and 3 are on the table, I'm very interested to see how high they'd actually go for Dangerfield (no, I don't want to trade him, just curious at the value on offer).

Thoughts on some one like Shoenmakers?

Struggling to hold his spot with hawks & is still young. We need another key defender

Yes, I would trade our third round pick for him. Like it or not he is a premiership defender with two grand finals under his belt. His price lowers nicely because he didn't get selected for this one. He will add some nice experience to our backline.

He is our one and only since McLeod .. Could be a long time before we see another

This is true. Plus his leadership skills, media savvy, marketing appeal, and respect around the league make him a once in a generation. Superstars like that don't leave their clubs unless they've won premierships (Ablett, Judd, Franklin). Give him the captaincy in 2016 and make him our first million dollar plus player.
