We should have one of the all time easiest forward lines to break into.

It's still got it challenges to break into. After all, once we hit round 4, Tex is back. Thilthorpe is a lock and Fog/Himmelberg are probably the bottom end of AFL standard, though both lack genuine upside at this point.

That said, I would say Tex/Thilthorpe/Gollant would be the ideal forward pairing, and one I hope we work out rather early.

Post-Walker era, I see our forward line being:
Cook, Thilthorpe, Pedler/McHenry (sharing forward/mid time)
Rachele, Fogarty, Gollant

Leaving aside injuries/form slumps/development stalls, that only leaves a bench spot for Himm, Rowe, McAdam, Murphy, Berry (if not mid), Newchurch etc. There are some that would want to show improvement pretty quickly.

The thing with TT is that he needs to use his strength which is his tank. The practice matches he was trying to play a bit like a big key forward but needs to get on his bike and run his man into the ground.

Been saying this for a while but no one wants to know - he is not best value being a stand alone forward. Watch his junior footy - sitting in the square a waste of his talent.

He’ll make his name going all around the ground - everywhere

Just saw the replay and noted that. Guess your post was tongue-in-cheek as it doesn't answer the question.
How many AFL players are truly proficient on both sides?

In case your not aware there are very few.

There is no doubt Thilthorpe will be a key forward, though I hope we're quick to realise his future lies at centre half forward so he can be that talisman he projects to being (and yeah, you deserve whatever whack is coming your way for suggesting a long term ruckman).

That said, considering we have Tex signed for 2022, I don't particularly mind us operating Thilthorpe as a deeper 2nd/3rd tall and a backup ruck this year (just to give a reliable way to get him involved further up the field) as his body develops. After all, Tex is going to be an automatic selection once he's fit, and I imagine training Thilthorpe to play one role, then thrusting him into another could cause all sorts of confusion issues.

I nominate Newchurch: he won't make it.
Newchurch plays his role that he needs to play in the team , he just needs to work a lot harder, Crows are lucky to have options up forward , if one players down the other one steps up, it’s only trials and you making judgements on players careers, wow.
His been told by the man in charge that he needs to work a lot harder because they would love him in the 1’s

Thanks, Mrs Newchurch.
Making judgements is all we do here!
This was my response to a call for a whipping boy. It follows not just from one trial match, but 12 months of observations. He may have been asked to work harder, but I've yet to see a response. Noone denies what he can do, but it doesn't happen anywhere near enough.

Lot of very good footballers in the country leagues that could have been stars if they’d have worked harder and stayed away from girls, pies and beers.

It’s not usually just a switch you flick in the 2nd year on a senior list. Hopefully he can - lots of talent, but it’s just a fact not all with talent have the appetite.

That’s all it is is Judgements so none of your comments and options matter because what they see in the club and behind doors is that his ticking the boxes they ask of him and all the other players.
He kicked 22 goals last year had a good average for a small forward who never played any league football

Well that’s good news if true. My worry with him was that he never really developed the defensive or contested side of his game in U18.

This is where the boys learn, so that even if they enter seniors as an outside player, they still have some inside craft in their pocket.

He needs to work a lot harder on his weapon if he wants to make it to the next level and I’m sure his aware of this

There is absolutely no doubt Tariek has oodles of raw talent, his speed, agility and athleticism has very few equals in the AFL, very similar to Charlie Cameron in that regard but as someone that's been following his career since he joined the Roosters Tariek really does need to attack EVERY contest with more vigour and get more involved when he hasn't got the ball, if he can harness his wide array of weapons he can be a very serious footballer.

Nothing more I'd like to see than another Port Augusta lad strutting their stuff at the top level being a Port Augusta old boy :) myself.
Actually went to school with several indigenous lads up there Sydney Waye and Johnny Roach who were also very talented but I guess never got the opportunities Tariek has so let's hope he grabs them with both hands and really shines, same with Isaac Keeler.

Exactly mate

Nice hit up from Strachan to Gollant at about 1:16 mark. Strachan looks like he knows how to kick and get the ball from hip to foot with relative ease.

I just asked the question whether or not the kid could kick with his left. This has sweet **** all to do with whether or not most can't.

Well he showed he has a left foot in that very same game if you watched it, but like most AFL players they're very, very ordinary off their "wrong" foot so Lachie's obviously no exception.

He was 3rd on the ground for distance covered at 14.6km on Sunday.
