Need to really try him up forward. I see so much of Cameron from GWS now Geelong in him and the way he moves when he played up forward as a junior . Can’t believe the club doesn’t see that FOg , Berg and Thilthorpe are all slow and no real standout athletics traits.
RT ?

Pedlar's comparator when drafted was Toby Greene: fair enough.
I can see him spending a fair bit of time on right HFF. A much better choice there than Berry or Sloane.

So was Hately good or not? Lots of comments early saying delist, then by the end people are saying he is good depth and much improved.

On SM-A325F using BigFooty.com mobile app

He wasn't good but he did kick a nice late goal.

His issue is he gets heaps of the ball but is glacially slow and his disposals have no hurt factor whatsoever.

He reminds me of a Patrick Wilson type that can get heaps of ball but you know will be very mediocre at the next level because they have no weapons

So watched the full game. Hard not to be encouraged with that performance. Most of the side played well. Gollant, Pedlar and Strachan the standouts for mine. I thought Taylor looked promising. Gets into the right spots and uses it well. Parnell has put on some size and he's another with good foot skills. I thought Frampton & McAsey were solid down back.

A few areas of concern.

Murphy - Seemed to be playing around the ball more. I wasn't keen on his game though. Lot of defensive pressure but no hurt factor.
Worrell - Lost a few important 1v1's, got shitty with his teammates. Wasn't great. Would like to see him played as a forward instead.
Newchurch - I'm not sure I see a player here. Has nice speed but just doesn't get involved enough for mine.
Hamill - Liked his game but his disposal is still letting him down a bit.
Hately - Had a decent game but his kicking would be a liability at AFL level. Kicks it high and loopy.
Berry - Looks down for form. Similar to Murph. Defensive pressure and tackling still a feature but seems to be lacking in hurt factor.

Passable, lacks aggression at the contest for mine.
Need to get inside his head.

Get Ant from SAS Australia to give him a training session to wake up.

Come again...at least Wilson had one absolute weapon a penetratrating 65m boot.

Are we sure he isn’t another Jarryd Lyons’s?

Lyons has much better game sense, is more powerful, has better and more damaging ball use, and is capable inside 50.

So I'd be surprised if he followed that path

Thing is, he shouldn't have any of those things. Jackson is THE prototypical modern mid.

At least he was in his junior days, now he's on the edge of the abyss

I remember a lot of people saying similar things about Lyons. Happy to get a pick in the 40’s for him people were saying. I think for what we paid for him and time we put into CEY he should be allowed sometime to develop , he will be a good replacement for Sloane and an extractor that gets plenty of disposals out to the runners 🤞🤞🤞

I agree, but I haven't seen him play like a big body mid. Pedlar plays taller and stronger

Not fast or agile enough for the AFL and his kicking is poor. I will be very surprised if he turns it around.

At this time you would have to have Pedlar well ahead of him already and if Zac Taylor's game today is any indicator he's probably ahead of him already for the vacant Sloane position when it becomes available

Not sure why people think that's a valid comparison. Yes Lyons is also pretty slow but he's a better kick, more versatile and his inside game is better than Hately's.

Does anyone else see a bit of Tony McGuinness in Pedlar? Maybe it's the chest out flat out running style that's tweaking it for me.

Granted I was too young to remember peak Tony McGuiness, but from all reports that wouldn't be a bad player to emulate..

Hopefully Pedlars kid doesn't become a whiny, clickbait journalist like Tony's has.

Elevate Gollant into the league squad and leave him there.
The kid oozes class, has size, speed and that little bit of X factor, he's going to be a hard match up for opponents.
He reminds me of a young Jack Gunston coming through the SANFL.
Gunston was a talent that spent far too much time in the SANFL. There's no need to have those types of players running around in the seconds and not fulfilling their potential.
We're not in premiership contention so take the punt, get games into him.
Seems a natural forward to me who could rotate easily off the bench with Fog and Thilthorpe.
Still gives us some size and agility when those players have a breather.
He's a keeper.

He only signed a 1 year contract extension. I wonder if he considering moving away.
