Yeah, Parnell has been one of my favourite prospects at the club since we've drafted him (despite having the body of a 13 year old at the time). Just a super classy little player who rarely makes a mistake and (which is rather rare for a skinny outside player) isn't lacking in the bravery part of things.

I haven't watch the game (yet), but I was also pretty happy to see Newchurch do well on the stats side of things. He's deserved it after his last fortnight.
If McAdam doesn't take his opportunity I would give Newchurch a run. I think his pace could worry defenders at AFL level. Parnell could come straight into the team for Jones and be an automatic improvement. The more good kicks in the backline the better. Interestingly Jones was named as the final spot in the team this week. If he doesn't perform I think he may be out.

Mcasey is a bust..

Possibly the worst bust in our clubs history given that its in an era where the “science” of drafting/draftee analysis is so advanced…

Hes actually not even worthy of a rookie spot at this point.. I’ve tried to be positive about him up until now but he’s hot garbage.. couldnt even see another club even bothering to take him on if we dumped him.

I mean we drafted the kleptomaniac known as Lawrence Angwin.

McAsey is a bust, but it's going to take into diving into some real shit bloke territory to replace young Angwin.

If we had pick 3 instead of pick 4 we could have taken Luke Jackson. I would have gone Lachie Ash at pick 4 who has turned into a good player. Will Day, Codey Weightman, Serong, Pickett, Young all better options. Hamish nailed the worst pick in the top 20.

I mean, if we're talking the worst pick out of the top 20, that belongs to Cooper Stevens at this point, the only player not to debut.

McAsey isn't a good pick by any stretch of the imagination, and certainly in the bottom quartet of that group. As much as he's keeping to a proud pick 6 tradition.

To be fair to Cooper, he was absolutely shafted being drafted by Geelong at his age

Cooper Stephens having a really bad fractured leg in his draft year and follow up complications might just have a tad of input into that.

Finally got to do a full pre-season this summer and is startiong to play some really good football in the VFL.

He's the big bodied mid we could really do with actually if he can now get some match fitness under his belt, only problem will be will the coach pick him or keep going with his legion of 30 plus mids.

Don’t agree at all with the Hateley assessment, thought he was excellent today, but Thilthorpe is a weird one.

Scores 4 goals but managed to show exactly why he’s not banging the door down to get selected.

He’s looking REALLY one dimensional at the moment. Long ball in, work opposition player under the ball, kick goal. This is all well and good if the ball is coming in there a lot, like it was in the 1st half, but he has a real inability to work himself up the ground, and into the game when the supply isn’t there.

I mean, this is just completely untrue. 4.0 from 14 touches, 3rd highest tackles in the team, broke even in the ruck. What sort of ridiculous benchmark is he supposed to achieve - especially in the 3rd quarter with our turnstile midfield? He did more than enough to get back in the team.

Tilthorpe needs to develop some different skills. He dominated the first quarter on an inexperienced Glenelg defender. Looked good in the second but was unsighted in the second half. Partly because the Crows midfield was smashed apart by a more committed Bays outfit. The Bays also stopped Tilthorpe getting a one on one so he was often outnumbered.

The Bays lifted the intensity and the Crows cracked like an Easter egg. Adelaide had more speed but they didn't seem to know where they were going. They seemed so intent on moving the ball quickly they just gifted it to the Bays defence. The Crows need to find an experienced defender to tell the kids where to go, they looked a rabble in the second half.

Fog did a couple of good things but was mostly a non-event. Didn't lead often and when he did it was ignored. His confidence looks shot.
I thought Hately did OK but no-one really played a game that would warrant them being elevated.

The reason for the fall away was bullshit though
Team is undefeated and goes in 40 points up at half time. Tell me they don’t just phone it in after the break? Even Nicks went on to the ground at three quarter time break and told them to change their mindset apparently. I’m not the only one who thought that.

It had nothing to do with a very good side lifting and getting on a roll at home….

Serong was the obvious choice. But no we have to be overly smart and trade down 2 spots cause Mcasey was our man. If we traded down and just went serong then Ogilvie would look like a genius

I can imagine what would've happened here.

"OMG not another midget midfielder, what is Hamish doing ??"

Took a calculated gamble on the clear best KPD in the draft, hasn't worked for a variety of reasons.

Another sub 6 foot mid, yeah that would have gone down well on this board. Let's wait and see how Like Pedlar develops who was part of that deal goes before we get too excited.

I've seen enough from Luke Pedlar to think he's every chance to be a very good mid once he gets his fitness up to AFL standards. He's one mid that has good acceleration from the contest and can certainly take a big grab with his exceptional hops.

Not living in Adelaide, I don't see the SANFL games live.

I wasn't aware that Nicks was so game day involved with the reserves. Does he (and assistant coaches, leadership group) attend these games often?

Of course they do when the AFL games schedule doesn't interfere.

Watched the first half last night. To be honest the disposal of both teams in the second quarter was horrible. So many turnovers. Not sure how we managed 7 goals to be honest!

Haven’t watched the second half but if Glenelg cleaned up their possession then no surprise how they belted us in that quarter.

Also, I thought Parnell was the absolute standout of the first half. Very impressive, the only one out there with clean skills and disposal. Some of Worrells work in traffic was good too.

TT is second after Rachele of the youngsters I'm least worried about. He's a super talent and has the work rate to get there.

Harry Mckay did so little in his first few years that most Carlton supporters forgot he existed.

Nek minnit he's winning a coleman.

TT will be a gun.

You know he loaded up on smalls this draft right? So picking smalls has nothing to do with it.

But I know once Serong started playing and showed what he was capable of there wouldn’t be any complaints.

As for McAsey, he picked a player that’s not going to make it with pick 6 in a position where we’ve got a rookie player and a Port reject playing.

It’s time Hamish’s defenders acknowledge how many decent picks he’s burnt and he’s got to go. 10 years is long enough and we need a fresh set of eyes and philosophy.

Hamish’s job isn’t to please this board, it’s to pick quality players. Not sure why you’d raise how it would go down on this board unless he’s blowing picks.

Hamish has a record of being able to pick up solid B grade footballers later in the draft but boy does he burn some top end picks.

I don't think GWS wouldn't have done the pick swap as all the selection would have moved up a pick had we not told them we were selecting McAsey so Fremantle would have used pick 7 to draft Tom Green to maximise GWS draft deficit instead of Serong. Hence, GWS only did the pick swap as they knew Fremantle was going to select Serong.
