Opinion AFL 2023 Round 14 - Liked, learnt, hated

Liked - Honestly there wasn't much to like about a reasonably dull multi-bye round, so I'll just say I liked watching the Ashes instead. Been a gripping contest so far.

Learnt - Any question marks about Port being the real deal have been settled now. They were impressive as they dispatched the reigning premiers on Thursday night and they did it coming off multiple 6 day breaks. I already believed but I'm well on board the bandwagon now.

Hated - Hard to choose between Freo's insipid showing against the Giants yesterday, or the Suns poor outing against the Blues this afternoon. Didn't see either of those coming so I can only imagine supporters of both clubs would be rather disappointed.

Liked : Not much, it was a nothing sort of round.

Learnt: My Cats are gone and are a spent force, Port haven't proven a thing yet and won't do that until they beat the top teams in Melbourne,

Hated: I always hate the BYE rounds.

Port will need to beat Melbourne or Collingwood at the MCG to be taken seriously, all those teams you mentioned are ordinary. Even Geelong thrashed Essendon, so no big shakes there. Port come finals time will know all about it.

Teams we beat on the road... and who cares about round 2... That was 12 weeks ago.

Learned: Suns players don't want to play finals, enjoying the world-famous Gold Coast lifestyle a little too much?
Hated: Not seeing Dees pump some rubbish team, * bye round.

Liked - a win for the inspirational champ on his 300th, fantastic night.

Learnt - tiges might not be done yet, whatever mini is doing it’s working.

Hated - the maggots. Some of the most one sided umpiring we’ve seen over our last 2 games. Luckily it didn’t affect the result.

Even if we win the flag he won’t be convinced. Will find a reason to call it a tainted premiership.

Agree that Port Adelaide have proven themselves as genuine contenders this year, but Richmond were in the bottom 4 when they played Port and not fighting for a top 8 position. But, one can argue that our quality is that of a team fighting for the top 8.
