Simulated first season in management mode and majority of draft pics in national draft are players in their mid 20s or some even 30 years old.
Were you playing as Geelong?

Listened to the latest PressStartAU podcast where they discussed AFL23 (before launch). One of the more interesting discussions was the speculation that Xbox charge quite a lot for patches. If this is true, then perhaps it's a good thing there's a delay

The stickied post has been updated to summarise what I feel is the most relevant information. If anybody thinks there are other things worth mentioning, bearing in mind nobody is going to read it if it's too long, let me know.

Also, BigAntStudios JNT BA if anything is inaccurate or misleading let me know here or privately and I will edit.

They haven't charged developers for patches since the Xbox 360 days:

In this case you have three choices;

1. Let the camera clip through a grandstand (obscuring the field).
2. Change the camera in and out/up down (disorienting).
3. Move the camera to the other wing.

I'm happy to take on board alternatives.
Is there a way for the textures for the grandstands/whatever is in the way to be invisible if the camera is looking at them from behind? Almost akin to a bus window that has an ad plastered on the outside but you can still see out from inside. This seems to be the most ideal solution but I have zero experience with game development or 3D modelling, it’s just me assuming what could be possible in the world of game dev.

Having played at Coburg in game and volunteered at the club this season it appears the camera is on the wrong side. This mirrors up with the constraints on real life where the camera and cameraman are pushed back as far as possible but you can’t have them on the other side because there’s no road access for the equipment to come in.
I must say the ground looks beautiful in game though and from what I can see the inside of the grandstand is modelled accurately as well. I was blindly hoping that you’d see the relevant people inside the media box, coaches boxes, canteens, etc. Would it be a waste of time with the issues currently at hand though? Absolutely. Would still be nice though.

We don't know for sure, but if the patch corrupted then applying fixes to the corrupted version won't fix the underlying issues.

They would need to go back to a "working version" and then re-apply the fixes one by one to make sure nothing else breaks.
I don't agree that the patch was corrupted. But I do agree with needing to break apart the proper/release version into smaller parts and join them together again to make sure nothing else breaks. It also allows them to release other features that are not a part of the release version as well.

For those not in software development, when you merge two different branches there can be something called merge conflicts. This is what they will be trying to avoid and so breaking it apart into smaller parts and developing the patches in sections will be the best point of action for the situation and will possibly reduce the number of merge conflicts - merge conflicts are an absolute bitch to resolve.

Don't tell me you're using light theme 😐

Similar to other complaints, I simulated a season in management mode and all the AI picks in the National Draft were mid-season draftee types aged 25+ and I was left with all the top 17/18yos lol. Even in Rd4 onwards.

Also went to start the next season and Walsh, Curnow, Weitering & Cerra were all of a sudden rated between 25-40 overall. Killed any chance of me simming another season. Safe to say I won't be touching that mode with any effort until that is fixed.

First missed AI shot I've seen from this game, ever.
I had Darling miss from outside 50 last night

I immediately ****ed up the kick in as a deliberate rushed behind and Ryan got a goal back

Sure. But they sucked.

This is a game that functions really, really poorly but with fixes could be much better than those steaming piles of cow dung.

It played like football and didn't have many glitches (other than seeing any player in ruck contests, meaning someone that's like 5'8 would be going up against a giant in comparison :p).

The patched game is playable on the PS4 and it's looking not a whole lot different to PC which is good.

Biggest priorities right now (imo) -

1. Player inertia and control - you shouldn't feel like you are out of options because your opponent is ten meters away and you're facing the wrong direction.
2. Players running to the ball and stopping, or stopping when receiving a handball. This takes me back to the bad old days of AFL gaming.
3. More powerful / effective punching. Now the AI can lead and attack effectively (which is great btw), really need to make it easier to defend in a pack situation otherwise you're on a hiding to nothing.

Also why do players clip through each other in a contest - is that by design? What is the point of player positioning if this is a feature.
