Looks like it was made (or at least the teams lists were taken from) years ago too. Crows have names like Skipworth and Ricciuto in their list.

It's an official AFL game as far as I can tell yet the players haven't been licensed, very strange.

Hi everyone,
Thanks for those who had a look at our FREE game: AFL Arcade. We put this classic retro game up because we thought it might be some fun, and something to do on facebook. The other main goal point is a technical test of Facebook's API’s as we are considering adding more cool stuff, including other fun free games to play and potentially competitions and leader boards. We agree the load times are sometimes slow and are looking into this issue – which seems to be server bandwidth related (as sometimes it is very fast). Thank you for the initial feedback, this is why we have done it!
Thank you MelbourneMartin for your positive feedback We made this JAVA (not flash) game in under 64k (that's incredibly small for code and art and sound) game back in 2002 for the old Nokia 40 series and other handsets (you can still get them from Telstra) however later versions of the game were released up until around 2006, based on the same tech. We were originally allowed to use official player names back in 2002 but around 2006 this was no longer the case, and we had to remove them.
The AFLPA has grown a lot stronger over the last few years, which is great; however I don't believe they have been consulted heavily on video game development before the AFL Live + AFL Wii releases. I might add the AFLPA were great to work with and were by far the easiest people we had dealings with during the development of AFL Wii. The AFL still has large control of player names while they play in the league, hence why we could not have legendary/retired player names in the new AFL on the Wii. However do not quote us because we are not familiar with these details. This is purely an outside perspective of what we have experienced and we really are trying to share as much info as possible.
Anyway we hope you get a laugh and have some fun with this free game. If you do really think it’s such a terrible idea to make some free activities on our facebook page, we are interested to know why and what harm it does!? You are saying people want less free stuff? If you prefer - we can consider removing everything and not doing things like this for the community? Surely we can do some tech tests without being flamed for it?
For those who don’t mind some light entertainment, if you are having trouble with kick distances you should try training up your players kick and pass skills, ensure you are facing the right way, and using the kick key as opposed to passing when needed. We welcome any other feedback and if people are keen we might even do an update of this old classic and bring some more over!?
