Sounds like the Tigers are already making excuses for being shown the insides of theirs Rrses!!!:D My tip is the Roosters by over 100 points - and thats if the quarters are only 15 minutes long!!!
It's not all bad though Original... at least the Tigers had the balls to give it a go; Eastlake claimed that they didn't have long enough to prepare! How long do you need to play a half of football with 15 minute quarters??:thumbsd: Very ordinary Bombers!! :(

There called Demons !!!!!

There called Demons !!!!!

My Bad!!! Still on a high from watching the Real Bombers smash the Bulldogs and go marching into next weeks game with the Saints. It's the most exciting time of the year; you think your team's good enough, you hope they're good enough and most of us tend to get too up beat about the pre-season form our teams show only to be deflated about five rounds in when they're 1 and 4 or worse!:(
It doesn't matter what Eastlake call themselves.... they're losers for pulling out of possibly the biggest game this league has seen in quite some time, especially if the Roosters (as reported) bring their strongest team to town!!
Does anyone know if the Tigers tried to get Ainslie or Belconnen to take the "Demons":p place?

Last question to all.... Given the amount of injuries seen recently in the NAB Cup, and the less than full strength teams that most clubs enter in to the comp.; is it really worth the expense that the AFL is spending on it?? Shouldn't the money be spent trying to improve the struggling country leagues like ours??
I heard the President of one AFL club lable it as the biggest waste of time and money that the AFL has ever expended, others have stated that it goes on for too long and some coaches treat it with total disdain by only playing rookies and fringe players. Difficult for supporters to see whether their team has the goods or not leading into the season proper!!

Thoughts??

Thought you all might be interested... QBN's website has a list of the 23 man squad North Adelaide are bringing across. They look like they're bringing a pretty strong team - Shannon Motlop included!

Sorry guys... webiste is www.tigersclub.com.au

I heard there might be a few Swans players coming down to play for the tiges against Nth Adelaide....Any truth to this? should make the score line a little closer, great exposure for the tigers boys..mixing it with some of the best...:thumbsu:

Swans have indicated they will send probably 6 players but will not release their names until after training Wednseday.

You would hope that with both clubs being starved of success for many years the "older blokes" would view this as an oportunity to end their careers with the possibility of a few more wins than normal and maybe a last gasp at a finals birth....That would be my take on it and I think I qualify as an "older bloke""

Can confirm that Creek/Hawks are merging - announcement later today.

Cancel your holidays for your bye weekends boys as we're back to 6 clubs!

"Can confirm that Creek/Hawks are merging - announcement later today."

The Creek boys knew this a week ago!

Good luck to the new entity - I wish them success on and off field, and maybe they can be the first club to thrive with limited backing from a Football/Social club.

Anyone heard what is going on with paid players - from my info, Tuggies had none, the Creek had a fair few? I'd assume that all contracts would be null and void with a merged entity and this would all have to be renegotiated.

Doubtful TGM

Any chance of Belco putting their hand up to play two teams in Ressies again?

More interested about whether they will be fielding two reserve grade sides. Otherwise it will be a 5 team reserve grade comp. Which is pretty much gayer than aids.
Haven't heard any offical announcement but it would be a big call to expect them to field two sides in the reserves.
Also very tough on Belco to be expected to go the extra mile again. Huge drain on off field staff having 2 sides playing at the same time at different venues. Maybe one of the other district sides needs to step up (read pushed).

From what I heard WCFC had about 25-30 players on books. More than enough to run a side out of reserve grade. It would keep them alive as an entity at least in some small way with a view to going alone again themselves in a few years. 5 teams is just ******ed.

Who is going to coach?? Horney left the "Kournakovas" to take the 1st grade reins at Tuggers and Gormo is at the Creek....Any clues??

Pardon the Pun but this may "Spoil" a few appetites of the "Dicks from the North" but DJ Walker has signed for the Tigers.

Speaking to the lad tonight at training he had nothing bad to say about the bunch at Belco which is a credit to him and to you guys, but You can take the Tiger out of Qbn but you cant take Qbn out of the Tiger!!:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Im also extremely happy to say that he will be wearing the number 20 and I know he will do it proud!

Bad luck Belco, but you will never recruit a true Tiger!!

Thanks for news ABH, but your right, Belco haven't needed to recruit too many 'true tigers' over the years. Seems it's not the same both ways tho, who did DJ first play junior footy for?

I remember my first ever footy training was also DJ's first ever night of footy training.... It was at a club that was far far away from Tiger land... In Kippax to be exact.

This 'true tiger' stuff, is Matho considered a 'true tiger' also? Next you will tell us Stafford Cooper is a true 'Demon'.

So - the results are in. 5 team reserve grade comp it is. That's just awesome. I'm sure there will be a feeding frenzy on all the old WCFC players now :D

I read in the chronicle that Tuggeranong Football Club received a $40k grant from the ACT Gov't. This should hopefully relieve some of the pressure out there. Hopefully it can be used to help fund a second reserves team to keep the 2's alive.

I can't see Belco stepping up again. Maybe the league needs to provide some decent assistance to the Jets to get them into ressies.

I wouldn't get to excited about the merger just yet guys as it now looks like it wont happen!

The WC players voted last week for the merger on the conditions that Gormo and Horney would be co-coaches and that Geoff Bartley would be Football Manager. This was agreed on by both Tuggies and the Creek prior to the vote.

After yesterdays press conference, Geoff was informed by the league that he would no longer have a job and that Gormo would have to re-apply for his job, 5weeks before the season. And that the merger would more or less be controlled by the league with them making the decision on the Footy Manager and and the independant chairperson on the 5 man board.

Tuggies really need to merge with the Creek because it is the $250 000 a year that the Creek put in that makes the merger work.

Neddless to say the boys at the creek aren't happy and with the Extraordinary General Meeting to happen in 10days to vote on the merger, it doesn't look good! No money from the creek in to the merger would have to leave tuggies in a pretty vulnerable state you would think?

The league needs to butt out and let the two clubs work towards a solution, other wise it could be 5 team competition in 2008 without tuggies and the creek.

Christ Almighty, the league have shown over a long period of time that it does not have the ability to run a chook raffle.
Why oh why are they butting in on something that hasn't been finalised.
Warkie, let the clubs TRY and fix it themselves first.
Only after they have tried and failed should you even think about putting your 2 bobs worth in.
If this doesn't go a head then this league may as well shut up shop. 5 teams will make it a laughing stock and one of them being swans ressies.
If this fails then a state wide league has to be done NOW.

Wow. Bartley has had an almighty dummy spit in an email of his I've seen this afternoon. Looks like the party could be SPOILED.

Shame really. Best solution for all.

I dont consider Matho a true Tiger. He was just tired of losing GF's to us. Little did we/he no that you guys would beat us 3 years on the trot several years later.

As for DJ I didnt no his junior back ground, questions must be then asked as to why you didnt keep him??

Sounds like AFL Canberra are trying there very best to find another way to f*ck things up. The merger may bring back some credibility to the competition, with what everyone hopes will be a more competitive club.

Also good luck to the Tiges against North Adelaide, hope they put up a good show against the Roosters.

Word from the pub suggests that Bartley originally didn't want the job, failed to apply when it was advertised as Tuggeranong Football Manager, then spat the dummy when he was not appointed in it with all due process ignored.

I would suggest it is on 100% (unless all hell broke loose at tonights meeting between the three parties) - just some parties will be very aggrieved.

Belco entered 2 sides in the reserves last year out of the best interests of the leauge (why else would of they done it). It is time for the Jets to grow some balls , stop talking about some 5 year plan and go up a grade. 2 GFs in a row is good enough reason for me, I don't care how old they say there list is. Stop making excuses Jets, you look like cowards who are scared of a fight in a slightly higher weight division.

This was certainly not agreed to by the tuggers players as they were only informed of the merger on Tuesday night by David Wark and Bob Hughes. That is the first time the tuggers boys have been spoken to about the merge.
