Andrew Trost, or Trosty, or "That prickle-headed bastard over there with the camera..." ;)

Can I ask a complete newbie question? Looking back over the last three year's photos, it seems to me that Mark Armstrong has changed his set-shot-for-goal kicking style. Is this something that footballers would do throughtout their career? Continually monitor and fine tune as required?

Cheers

Good example is Fevola (Carlton) he has changed his grip recently. I wonder if Toodogs has changed his grip with ABH or NOP recently???

Ah, OK I get it now - so no more character assasination like the sort you were doing to Clarke from Eastlake earlier this year - you are a hypocrite!!

I don't think your feeble mind understands what a character assassination is... my (and others) earlier posts were on Clarke's playing style when he played against Queanbeyan. Oddly enough the next time we played against Eastlake; he had changed his style & is now possibly the best opposition player I have seen stand on Kavanagh. I think you will even see that I had congratulated him on changing his and his teams style against Queanbeyan... it is possible to respect a player even if you don't always respect the way he plays, dumbass.

I suspect Codpiece is really Foot in Mouth as he has mysteriously disappeared.

All good fun but I do agree we need those other guys giving us something on Ainslie, the Lakes and Tuggers. They must be on the tools all day!!

I don't think you have the brain capacity to wonder about anything Codola... Seems that now you want to have a crack at me, bring it on smoker;)

Hey shit boy!! As a keen follower of our great game I can comment on whoever and say whatever I bloody like on this thread, thats what it is for...If you dont agree then thats your opinion.

Old TD, please take the advice of your friend, I found this quote that ABH has made in the past. At least he handles it better than you and gives as good as he gets! Now go and start up a sh!t poll about how much better every player is at Queanbeyan than all the other players in the comp!

from memory the rep sqaud (of 24 i think) was announced today. can anyone offer their team with possible dark horses and notable exclusions. its been said before but will armstong take the old legs or bring some young ones in (who). was a hawks training last night and takanen was still doing rehab on his hammy (so i assum he wont play this w/e)

You're right numb nuts, I have taken ABH's advice and commented on whoever I like and right now I'm commenting on how much of a plumb gargler you are. We can make this real simple (I know how you struggle with multi syllable words); your knowledge on the local football league is pathetic so why don't you go play with your play station for the rest of the school holidays and leave the game and player ratings to those that actually understand the game..

Here's my side SB:

FP - Hughes (Ainslie) FF - Armstrong (Qbn) FP - Williams (Qbn)
HFF - J Bennet (Belco) CHF - Kavanagh (Qbn) HFF - Ainger (Belco)
W - Mcmahon (East) C - Neely (Ainslie) W - Stiller (East)
HBF - Powell (Qbn) CHB - Clarke (East) HBF - L Bennet (Belco)
BP - Henning (Belco) FB - Raadts (Belco) BP - Rogers (East)

Rucks - Dickinson (Qbn), G. Underwood (Belco), Healy (Tuggers)

Int - Bourke (Ainslie), C. Illett (Belco), Jaques (Qbn), Lieschke (Qbn) Duce (East) Holmes (Ainslie)

Daniher is struggling with injury as are Maher and Taka; I've given Raadtsy the benefit of the doubt over last weekends game as he is still the best defender in the league at the moment. Quade is unlucky - coming back from injury and Moussi from Belco is IMO a shock omission from the training squad anyway. It's an experienced team and obviously there are a few positions that people will believe are up for grabs and Willo has been short of form for a couple of weeks but has the X factor and can turn it on at any point in any game. :thumbsu::thumbsu:
Without knowing the final 24 players, I think that squad is fairly close from what I have seen this season. Taka could possibly come into the team if he plays on Saturday and gets through... How far away is he SB? And how many U18 players had to back up last week for the Ressies?

The rep side was named last night......while I know the team, it would be unfair to post it here without the players that missed out finding it out thru this forum rather than thru the selectors minds......
The team that toodogs named is pretty close to the mark. My only thought it that there is not alot of real pace to run down backmen or small crumbing forwards - alot of marking forwards in mind opinion anyway.

Cannot believe that this post has come down to a immature slanging match about opinions - think that for those who are just visiting the post for info on the comp would be dis-interested in reading it.

Maybe we all just post more meaningful info on the comp and keep personal opinions of each other to ourselves as the comp is at a very interesting stage.

Hope that Porkhead is right about the flag coming back to the ACT with the Swans injuries / suspensions really testing there depth. Will be interesting to see how they go V Ainslie this weekend.

Understand about the marking power V chasing / agility power; Lieschke, Illet, Healy and Underwood can all play a pocket or flank if it gets to top heavy.
Agree with the meaningful info statement.. hence the naming of my team to move on. Re: Porkheads statement; he has the knowledge and would know better than any in this forum. I hope for the Tigers sake that the Swans do beat the tri colours this week - it will help to keep our finals aspirations alive... but only if we continue to win.:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Surely you would have a better chance if the pies beat Eastlake this weekend?
Would make the Tigers / Eastlake game a beauty after the rep games.

Int - Hughes (Ainslie), Ainger (Belco), Jaques (Qbn), Lieschke (Qbn) Duce (East) Holmes (Ainslie)

Lets say that the 24 you have here is the 24 picked. If so then I would put Illet on the HFF for Ainger and put Ainger on the bench. Ainger could be another option if a Merv, Kav or Williams is down on form. I would also be inclined to play Bourke and Dicko out of a FP for the long bomb that goes to the square. Merv likes to lead so that would be my option with possibly Hughes coming to the bench.
Raadts needs another run under the belt, he was down last week and still looked sore so maybe he wont come up. If so I would put Rogers to FB and have Jaques in the pocket which would mean we would require another backman as back up on the pine. If Tak plays this weekend which is doubful then he deserves to play.

Apart from that TD its pretty close to the mark I would believe if that is the 24 they take. Injuries this weekend will be crucial.

Would make the Tigers / Eastlake game a beauty after the rep games.

Tigers need everything to go their way from here on. They need Belco to inflict a heavy defeat on Eastlake and Swans to beat Ainslie. While the boys need a big win also against Tuggers at Arctic Park.

Need Belco to win every game from here and the Swans to win all bar the game V Qbn. Of course the Tigers need to win them all!

Can be done as miracles happen every day!

Hey toodog if you know the game so much you would know that scott henning is out with an upper leg muscle injury and Raadts is unavailable due to hand injury suffered a few weeks ago. You would also know that Bourke pulled out yesterday from squad as late withdrawal due to old legs. As a Queanbeyan person you would also know that Danaher has not been considered due to injury. Quade & willo have also not been considered but are at full fitness, seems Merv and The ASS don’t rate them. You might also know that Moussi got his pants pulled down by Kirkwood at weekend and now Kirkwood as of late yesterday trained with the squad and is a likely inclusion.

If you want the team I will name it, so don’t question my knowledge you twit. And let me know who you are and I will let you know who I am that way when you fire B.S. at me I will know the flog I am taking apart.

TD, i was at training on tues night and tak was doing laps (in joggers) and going in and out of the trainers room getting rubs etc. i would have though that if he doesn't train tonight i doubt he will play whic means he will prob miss out on the carnival. i think if he was available he would be perfect for the carnival, young, fit, athletic and can play up foward if need be.

the two's have suffered a lot more injuries that the ones (they still have a couple of injuries) so the 18s are having to push up. the 2's struggled for a big target up foward and those 18s obviously cannot provide that. Ghiradello's dad is the two's coach and does a great job from all reports but it still hard with 1/3 - 1/2 of the team in 18's.

Understand SB; Tigers have been in the injury rut but are just starting to come out of it. I've heard Mr. G address the players and he communicates well, especially to the younger players from what I witnessed. Is there any chance the Chief will make another comeback?? He and the "Retired" Tigers goal kicking ace should write a book together... How to continue playing football after your third or fourth retirement:eek::eek:.
Where are all the young blokes that played in the successful U18 teams of the last 2 - 3 years?? Moved on or just not interested anymore?

I have never hidden where I come from; if your knowledge is as good as you think it is, it should be easy enough to find out who I am. Anyone who cares to ask is always informed; and thanks for the offer but I prefer to get my information directly from the source, not second hand so that I can cowardly publish it on an online forum...:thumbsd:

Hello to All,

First post, frequent reader.
I note, with envy, that some have access to the Rep Team selection. Does anyone know when the side will be formally announced so those far from Canberra can be informed.

As an aside, the Canberra footy is so much better than here by the harbour, you should be loving your weekends. Also thanks to the footy photographer.

Welcome OC.

Despite what some people think they know, the mail is that side is up in the air because of injuries/ late withdrawals. According to my source definite starters have been told to pack their bags but others to wait until after the weekends games or things are resolved.

All the same I cannot believe they are entertaining taking players who have injuries, haven't played for a few weeks or in some cases unproven at rep. level. This is a very demanding carnival against the best. Fit, mobile, multi position guys the way to go.

Toodogs youre like a dog with a bone....let it go will ya

Get everything you can on Ainslie beating the Swans this week. Swannies will need a stack of top ups with injuries and suspension hitting the club, plus Ainslie at full strength from what my man in Canberra tells me.

Any truth to the rumor that QBN are offering the Magpies free piss for the night if they smash Eastlake this week?

I think Belco will be keen to take last weeks shock loss out on Eastlake without the "rumoured" offer.

Winners to be - Belco, Tigers, Ainslie (but we need it be Swans!)

chief has been out most of the season with injuries and has only come back in the last couple of weeks through CD1's.

All the better players from the two GF teams (06,07) are all playing 1's/2's. (Mccabe, overs, prowse x 2, lovett, fernie, cleaver) some have moved interstate, some stopped altogether, some CD1's at various clubs and some still in 18's. From what i have heard a few of the players were scared off by the caoch from the last couple of years which i can understand.

looking foward to this w/e games as we have a couple coming back fro inujruy and all teams looking to get into some from before the break/finals.

heard that the coaches of the rep team made 3 late inclusions into the squad (cleaver, kirkwood, kimball) all 3 i think should have been there in the first place.

You're welcome. Thank you for checking out the photos. :)

Cheers

(Goes back to looking through old photos to see if anyone else has changed their kicking style recently....)

Hello all,

Can anyone tell me if there is a week break between the last home and away round and the first round of finals?

I looked on the AFLCanberra website, but the fixture only has the 18 rounds.

Thanks for any info
