Dodo head saw Coxy as a Harris Andrews type - but he'd have to fill out a bit

I feel the game is moving away from these types of inside mids.

There will be less throw ins next year, and I predict instead of last possession it’ll then go to last touch.

ball ups are getting limited too with a harsher holding the ball interpretations each season.

We could potentially have this player for a decade or longer, we need to be very sure if we are drafting a pure inside mid that he is elite.
Maybe moving away in some context but in the first few finals some of the best players have been Newcombe, Brayshaw, Dunkley, Rowell. There is still a place in the game for a blunt coal face instrument.

Absolutely still a place for guys who can defend well and generate contested possessions. But you need a mid mix that allows that player to thrive

I would seriously trade out our pick 6 for a future pick. That pick is seriously cursed. Not serious... well... I'm a bit serious.
It'll be pick 10/11 anyway. We're fine.

When it comes to small forward prospects in this draft pool there's Lachy Dovaston and then daylight to second. He continues to consistently perform for a dominant Eastern Ranges team that's stomping their way through the finals, and this game was no different. Dovaston worked well up the ground to link the play and was typically busy in the forward 50 to swoop on loose balls and create for himself and teammates.

To start trade week off, I would trade #25 for WCE #33 and #51. Gives us better flexibility to pry #3 from Richmond. I feel that Duursma, CDT or Sharp are good fits for us.

Grand final Coates league tomorrow.
Players of interest

Sandy
Jack Dalton
Fast, runs all day and absolute competitor. I hate hearing rubbish about drafting smalls.look at hawthorns smalls. Look at the pressure you need to apply in finals. Besides Kako we have no one who can do this and I am not sure Kako gets a game in the hawks side.

Xavier Bamert
Big bodied midfielder who is an absolute competitor. Can win the footy on the inside and works hard around the ground. One paced.

Oliver Griffin
Medium forward who has terrific hands and jump. Can kick goals. Would like to see better play on the ground.

Sacha Levine
Big bodied midfielder who. When playing well can win the ball on the inside and win footy around the ground.big difference between best and worst.

Willis Reidy
Small forward who is clever and kick goals. Not very physical and must bring forward pressure.

Rory Wright
One paced intercept defender who has a nice kick. Reads the play well. Question marks about afl athleticism but has afl smarts.

Eastern
Oskar Taylor
Speedy half back/ wing who can hit sizzling targets by foot. Is a second possession player who can win own footy but is most effective when receiving footy. Essendon would love his type. Hang on they had a kid named Massimo!

Sullivan Robey
Powerful half forward/ mid. Can win footy inside and out. Has some speed and likes to make physical contact. Also has the happy knack of kicking goals. I could see him ripping tomorrows game up.

Lachy Dovaston
Is not the wizard. But is a hard working small forward who can kick goals and apply forward pressure.. would be a solid member of a pressure applying forward six. Something Essendon need.

Oliver Greeves
Don’t be fooled by his size. A lot of Ollie’s game is based on skill and finesse not brut power. Oliver can win the footy in the midfield but looks dangerous one on one forward of footy. I would like to see bamert matched against him.

Xavier Taylor
Defender who can play small or tall. Is athletic but not creative with the footy and could be a tweeter at afl level. Decision making under pressure may be a test tomorrow. I don’t rate him as high as others but has afl athleticism and thirst for the contest.

Max Krasmadamskis
One of the better ruckman going around. Has a nice leap and moves well around the ground. Can mark the ball and has good skills by foot. A question mark around physical competitiveness. Ex basketballer who will be on an afl list next year.

Rod Ali
Athletic in between sized defender. Great leap and good speed. May be matched against Buck who will challenge him in the air. Not sure decision making under pressure is good enough and is a similar size to Josh Guthrie without the ball use.

Jos Landy
Hard at it midfielder who works hard and can win the footy. Might match up against Dalton. May not have an afl trait but hard as a cats head.

I reckon sandy without Ludowyke are vulnerable. If Dalton and Texiera can be controlled in the midfield eastern should have too many guns. Sullivan Robey has not got an obvious match up besides bamert who may be needed for Greeves.
One of my favourite bottom agers in Arki Butler is playing and will need to kick goals for Sandy to win.
