AFL Evolution - 2018 season update

I recently bought a Xbox one x and afl evo and downloaded the 2018 season pack and have played over the last couple of days. Tonight I get the warning that the license is missing and I need to download it again....any tips?
I don't know how on Xbox, or if it even exists, but on PS4 there is an option to "Restore Licenses" in the settings. If the Xbox has such a feature I'd bet that fixes it.

Started playing again recently. Picked up where I left off. Had a few games where it was tough to score and barely held on. But the Geelong game is where it came together. They no longer had the holy trinity (but had an aging Hawkins and Tom Boyd), while the likes of Cyril, Burgoyne, Hodge retired or moved seasons ago while Puopolo and Roughead retired last season. Hawthorn's new forward line led by Timmy O'Brien and Ryan Burton! Smashed them easily, was generating a lot of run!!

Most frustrating game if you’re doing the career/coach mode. Played against the bulldogs yesterday - Tom Campbell at full back, Libba half back, starting mids were Biggs, Wallis and Redpath. Bont starting on the pine and Wood at CHF. I know it’s not a management game but surely it should be easy to fix up these issues.

Yep, they definitely need to fix this. Happens in season mode too.
You set all teams up with the lineups you want, then after Round 1 the game has a mind of it's own, and moves players into weird positions

Quick question - if I buy the game with the season 2018 DLC, is it worth it? Is it a decent game?
I’d reccomend buying the old one and then the DLC online so you can pay around $55 which is probably what it’s worth. Not sure how much play time you’d get out of it over the off season as footy probably won’t be on your mind but it’s good fun.

Got the game with the update. Really liking the sliders.

I know I’m late to the party but does anyone have any slider and difficulty setting recommendations to get a realistic game?

Anyone learnt to spot up targets and have realistic passages of play in this game? Seems to be a button mash fest.

Frustrating how players stick to their own positions only and stay on their man. Would be good to be able to set up play in the backline by switching the play to a free man, or do as the eagles do and slowly build up. It’s just not a realistic interpretation of modern day football.

Still having heaps of fun with this game, especially during the trade period. I play on the second hardest difficulty, currently in season 2023 with the Hawks.

Laird (95), McGovern (97), Weitering (89)
Andrews (87), Yeo (96), Docherty (96)
O'Meara (95), Mitchell (96), Oliver (90)
Burton (92), Gunston (98), Kelly (93)
Daniher (92), Sicily (96), Cripps (94)

Foll: Gawn (94), Bontempelli (95), Fyfe (99)
Bench: DeGoey (89), Petracca (85) + 2 computer generated

My team actually used to be better, it becomes so hard to retain the top end guys because of their salary.

so suprised you can balance all this 80+ players in the squad did you not go to the draft once lol

If you give everyone 5 year deals when they are rated crap you can have a whole heap of 80+ rated guys on like 100-200k.

The problem is in several years time when everyone is really high rated you gotta trade some guys out because everyone in the 22 will want 400-800k.

Yeah my salary cap is so lopsided - I usually trade my 90+ players when they're 31-32 years old for draft picks. The game is broken, you can cheat the system in many ways.

Sometimes I even re-draft the players I couldn't afford, but I traded out players for early round draft picks. Yes I play this game too much.

What difficulty do you play on? Do you use sliders?

Sorry about all the questions but do you need to train players to get their ratings up or will they just increase over time anyway?

Cheers

I think it's all in their generous rating distribution.

Their player attribute ratings don't seem to have real connection to the player except for their overall. Like they just raise and lower random stats until they get an OVR they like. I see Jake Lloyd taking contested marks and outbodying people constantly, which is obviously bullshit.

AFL Evolutions rating system is also weird because although some attributes are more important than others based on your position, some of them are odd choices, and others stats which should be irrelevant are not. For example, if you want to make a 99 OVR forward pocket, they would have to have spoiling, rucking, tagging etc maxed out when really those attributes shouldn't matter at all in deciding who is an elite forward pocket.

This is why players are out of position all the time, the ratings are so broken that a player can be the same or similar overall in every position, regardless of their IRL skillset, so the game just distributes then where the game thinks they are needed right then.

Their entire attribute system needs an overhaul before the game will be in a good state to play career mode. Too many sports games are doing this too, Madden has had dodgy ratings for decades, we are finally starting to see dodgy ratings in NBA 2k and they have been good at this for a while.

Have been enjoying this game and configuring the sliders to make it as realistic as possible.

But **** me dead, to play out a match and have it freeze at the end so nothing is saved, or freeze on loading screens - that is a dealbreaker. What a joke. Cluster****. Won’t touch it again thanks to this.

My game keeps screwing up.

Three of the last four days I have played it, I set up a match, it shows the screen with the two captains posing, and then .......the match doesn't load, and mentions a CE-(can't remember the numbers) error, and suggests that I need to download an update, but the update says that it is the latest update.

I constantly have to uninstall and then install. Today, I had to delete the game and then download it again, and then download the 2018 DLC again (which it charged me for, despite already owning it).

It also told me to go to shop to install "2018 content" but then went to black screen and did nothing. I had to buy it again from PS Store.

My other games are running fine (although I had to reinstall my WWE2K19 Season Pass content again), so it seems like it is more the game than the PS4 itself.

It only started happening since I downloaded the 2018 content. can anyone help me to make the game no longer stuff up and remain stable.

If it keeps up, I may be forced to just buy the 2018 Edition full game, rather than DLC.
