Sheesh. Try playing the Giants on Hard mode. If you don't win the hard ball, you're screwed because either they'll kick a behind and you can't get it out and they kick the goal or they handball chain all the way to a goal
Major bug they need to fix, AI has way too many shots at goal and missing. There must be some algorithm they have that can be manipulated? Please? Because it's an enjoyable game apart from the whacky scoring of the AI and the putrid commentary.
PS. I NEARLY won my first game on Hard but the Lions ran over the top. Had a couple of chances to ice the game but miskicked a few shots at goal.
Also the frustration at not being able to clear the ball after kick ins - I was carrying on like Rocket Eade

Been playing online with Fyfe at CHF, tactics set to attacking and fast play down the corridor. Sandi hardly loses the hit out and the rest is history.

This was also a problem in AFL Live 1. Freo had a decent team back then but their spine of Sandi, Pav and... I forget their full forward in the game. That just dominated.
At least in AFL Live 1 though aside for centre bounces there was some strategy to be had of going down the wing as you could get punished by a corridor turnover, just like in real life.

I am fairly sure that the two are connected. Rather than develop proper kick in strategies and player placement they decided the easiest way to balance the scores was to have the AI miss easy ones.

One of my biggest weaknesses is that my team never plays in front of their opposition in the centre bounce. I've lot so many clearances due to being second to the ball. I can't work it out.

Should have reaction videos from those playing Evolution when they kick goals. Nothing wrong with a celebratory fist pump! ☺
I don't get as excited as I did on week one, but I still do Bruce commentary on "special" goals
. And fist pump the air when I mount a come back (if I'm trailing at some point in the game). Center square goals also get me very excited .I got reported in another game and had the never ending match bug (game resumed after ending in the 4th quarter). I was going to quit out and restart, this time instead of returning to the Xbox dashboard I just cycled the AFL game menu.... hit restart, and it took me to the season menu telling me I had a date with the tribunal.
No idea if this will botch the entire season game save or what now but will wait and see.

Is career mode purposely harder than just playing a season? I felt like I was finally getting a hang of the weirdness of this game and winning the majority of my games in the season mode, so I decided to give career mode a go on the same difficulty (Medium) but its like I've reverted back to the very first time I played - barely any goals, getting dominated.
Are players nerfed down to encourage using training modes, etc? Or have I just become shit?

Hmmm jumping from the single season to coach career wasn't any harder for me difficulty-wise. I don't think stats for every player rise up the more matches you have in coach career (think that's only for the pro mode).
I actually find it harder to play after a long period of not playing it, took one night off and resumed the following day and had to get the timing back.

Yeah that might be all it is. I picked it up again now and was much more competitive, and felt like things were clicking more. Maybe I was in my head or something.

Which is ridiculous considering the AI makes the distance when kicking for goal from 50-70m 99% of the time. Surely the better way to balance scores would be the ball falling short occasionally when the AI shoots it from far away (although the AI could mark a ball falling short).
Hadn't played for a few nights, was keen last night, nek minnit Xbox One update that took a ridiculously long time to download and install so I played Prey on PC instead.

Picked up a copy yesterday (xbone), only got the chance to play 1 game last night.. Naturally I just tried to wing it with no instructions.. I lost 4.3 to 0.0 
But on the flip side I was able to get afew runs of play and take 2-3 marks inside f50 but my set shots were appalling!! All out of the full... I was aiming judging by the wind and just using the right thumb stick to power the kick??
Tbh, I went into the game with low expectation judging my some of the reviews on bigfooty but I have to admit was pleasantly surprised and cannot wait to give it a decent crack over the next few days!! (After reading the instructions off-course!!)

Practice and you'll get used to kicking for goal. The wind can be tricky at first, especially when its at its strongest AND if you're not kicking directly in front.
I find the power meter a little finicky, its slow to start... but it jumps to the end TOO fast (still over power many shots that do go out on the full).

But it's an awesome feeling when you get the timing right and you boom it from outside 50 ☺
I've torpeoed it through while in the center square many times, still no achievement popping for it! Maybe they mean from where the square starts near the opposition 50m line jk.
Was the man on the mark inside the square too? That's how I've read that trophy... I've kicked them from inside the square but never on the run, or with the man on the mark inside the square.
I'll investigate tonight and see how far away from the 50m line I can be where the set shot is still selectable after a mark. That's just one of a few more achievements I am aiming for. Won't be winning the brownlow any time soon as I keep getting suspended (love my late bumps haha).
I've gone close a few times from the centre square on the run. I'll get one to go soon.
