So I just downloaded the patch and it's completely corrupted the game (I'm on Xbox One). When I first booted it up I got a message saying save data is 'incompatible with previous versions' or something like that. Now all the teams have 0 players, in Fanhub all the players are listed under 'delisted' but are also unselectable so even if I wanted to re-add them all to their teams manually I couldn't, and if I try to start an exhibition match it crashes and returns to the home screen. Has anyone else had this issue?

I had the same message regarding saved data, haven't played yet. Will have a go now EJ is over

The patch is a cracker. You can quite literally configure the game to play exactly how you want. Sure it's still the same game engine, but you can now address many of the niggly issues we've previously faced.

Currently I've turned fumbles and smothering up to 90, and turned TTB down to 10, and changed game speed to slow. Just my opinion but I think it plays much better. Like night and day. I think WW should be commended for effectively handing the keys to the car to the fans and I look forward to a 'tournament standard' set of sliders evolving over time. To that point it would be good to be able to export and import these settings next time around.

The game flows really well now, they've ironed out a lot of the glitch elements of the game, awesome effort, this comes very close to what you'd want from a modern game...

well done!!!!

Anyone on the fence, go buy it!

We're at the point of "it's now a sheer joy to play" which is great.

Managed to get the players back on their lists by resetting the Fanhub saved data. Obviously that meant redoing all the best 22's and re-delisting all the retirees, but at least I was able to get it working again.

Biggest issue for me with the patch is marking, definitely much more focus on positioning it feels and players won't automatically run to the best spot in the circle as soon as you release the button, instead they'll stop in their tracks. Gotta choose between positioning or timing.

The fumbles and smothers definitely increase the realism without even playing with the settings.

My lists are all good, still got my Schulz and half the port team set to wear long sleeves in the cold.

"Play Direction" camera. Thank god. Was absolutely doing my head in that, and cutting straight to the marking comp will help greatly. I also posted on this thread few days ago about the kick in camera being absolutely shit, but that has been fixed. Not a bad game now.
Hear Hear!
Play Direction was something I requested to WW when the game was released. It's been a pain in the arse in AFL games for years.... Wanting that sort of TV-style, side-on view, but also being able to see your leads up the ground.
'Dynamic' was good, but only in your forward half....and only when you had possession.... 'Play Direction' is now the best camera angle by far!

Having some trouble with it now though, now and then it will just fade out so far i cant even see whats going on.

And wtf is with them spoiling me on set shots. Easily 50 metre penalty without consequence. Or getting called holding the ball even though im constantly pressing handball, or running them down from 20 metres and they get no holding the ball call. Oh well. Guess cant expect it too much.

Sliders literally allow you deal deal with ALL of those problems! :)

I'll post my settings a bit later today- had 2 mates over, plugged in the old dual PS3 clone controllers, and had all 3 of us to play on the same team..

Both of them had heard the negativity, and were very hard to convince to give it a go (we are all massive footy fans).

But by god- once they had a taste, there was no turning back! Such a good party game! Linking up with 3 of us was amazing! Hitting each other on leads, Shepards, feeding Buddy exclusively lol- it was SO FUN!

For 2 guys who were initially suss on the game, we ended up smashing out about 5 matches in one night (and I play 7.5min quarters)

Obviously this was on PC- but I'd love to have even another 1 or 2 controllers. Would be epic with 4 people!

have never had that problem on set shots after 8 games last night, though i am wondering is it possible to run to close to the mark on a set shot??

Whats the best way to lessen the 1 v 1 contests everywhere? I lowered the man on man cpu slider but it doesnt overtly change much, more just the cpu defensive end..?

The sliders certainly change it up for the better.

There is no magic set; it depends on the individual style. The key ones for me are bumbing up marking fumbles, reducing tackle distance (game changer), stay on man to 0. The positioning is still basic, but the game plays decent footy for me.

I'm ok with the basic positioning and constant 1 on 1s

I think they've started with footy at its most basic level and they've done that extremely well and now the next stage is to bring in more realistic and complex positioning and player movements in Evolution 2

I've been playing my coaching career for a while now, does anyone know how to set a custom lineup so I don't have to go in and make 10 changes before I play a match.

I'll settle for the placebo of a magic set.

My results from playing around with them lead to me winning by 130 points on legend and I'm very average at the game and haven't played it in months.

If you're playing coach career the lineups only change when you make changes unless there's an injury or suspension

Not sure what you're doing to cause the lineups to reset but the game doesn't do that automatically
