I'd prefer both, rather than just having one caller and a special comments man, why not have 2 main callers. Also who would everyone like as the boundary rider/special comments.

Peter Larkins would be decent i think as he is good for the medical stuff, voice doesnt really change much either. I think special comments from Richo would be good :)

Question for the king of BAS, when kicking, do players kick off one step, do they have a walk in when having a shot at goal and how does kicking for goal work?

I double that.

:thumbsu:

There was an earlier question about the grounds - they have all been licensed. Real MCG, SCG, etc... and they look *real*!

Probably can't answer this, but will there be all the stadiums used in the AFL, like even Marrara, Manuka and Aurora?

Has anyone asked about the extent to which local leagues are included ?

I dont think they would go as far as that yet, but maybe in future games?

Also an idea for special teams. We could have the teams from the All Star game in 2008 or even the EJ Whitten legends game teams :p I can picture lining up 50 meters out with Newman or running down the corridor with Strauchanie :D :p

This.

Optional sweatbands for players and the ability to do pushups before kicking for goal (a la Hamish and Andy).

Pics look good and info sounds good, the info that I am most interested in is, is this game AFL only, or is there SANFL, VFL, WAFL? or at least a "fake" competition below the AFL where the next lot of draftees come from?

All of them are in there....

Oh sweet. Will Blacktown be in there but for pre-season only?

I should clarify that it is all grounds used in the regular home and away season....

What about leagues, is it just AFL or more? or is that a Q you are not allowed to answer just yet?

All I hope in terms of commentary is that it's not like previous years with the whole stilted delivery that I'm sure everyone knows about.

Plenty of other games have worked it out now to the point where you're not calling the players name then saying what they did after and it's more about generalisations and special comments for certain players. Hopefully something like that could happen in this game.

FIFA does it so they have some select quotes for certain players (which does help when you can know that around 2-3 players per team will usually be the only goal scorers). Something like that would be good to have in this one. Basically it would need to be a lot of generalisation quotes and not really anything very specific. Although having only 16 Official teams (plus possible DLC teams for GC and GWS?) means that you'd think there could be a condensing down to having maybe star players have their own quotes as well as a few individual quotes for each team as the year goes on just so you don't get that stilted commentary of "Riewoldt...kicks a goal...that was fantastic" instead it could be a lot smoother "Riewoldt kicks a goal and continues to excite in the race for the coleman" or something similar.
Also, if that wasn't done properly you'd have the same quotes being said over and over again, like what I saw in Fifa 08 - Fifa World Cup however has worked it out and sounds A LOT better in terms of commentary.

Will there be any DLC after the game is released? Things such as roster and fixture updates or new guernseys?

I hope Bruce McAveney is one of them. I hope that when Cyril Rioli gets the ball and takes a run he says to the commentary team "Oh what a delicious young player he is and he runs in and kicks a delicious goal!"
This, that would be.. well delicious

:D

I thought I read that they would be, I'm not sure if that means they are playable or just scouting though.

Nothing head high... the off the ball play is currently my favorite thing to do, especially in 4 vs 4.

Another thing, online players can pick to be on opposition teams to their local counterpart, ie. Carlton and Essendon at one location vs Carlton and Essendon at another location, having remote players on "your side".

can you go into more detail for this off the ball play? :)

Handball can be to a player directly or to space - the trajectory is dealt with by the system - there are "look aways" and over the head handballs, etc...

Additionally, we have implemented a control mechanism for both handball and kicks that players can choose to "lock" to a team mate, allowing for strafing and drawing the opposition.

That is the best thing ive heard all week.

What will the drafting system be like? Will we be able to download the new draftees and choose were they go or will it be a combination of players names like in the older games?

Also is the trading system more realistic than the old games?

Cheers

Will we be able to save replays? This is a must for sports games imo. So we can create our own highlight reels eg marks and goals of the year.

Would it be safe to assume this feature is in, considering it's available in every sports title these days?

Just wondering how the kicking works, It'd be cool to maybe have a momentum bar with that shows the distance the ball will go when kicked or hand balled (10, 20, 30, 40, 50 etc), depending on a players limit it stops say at 35 for Brad Fisher :p. Not sure if that makes sense.

Not a bad idea, and also maybe depending on the skill of the player will judge how far the ball goes and its accuracy for example Danyle Pearce may kick the ball 50 meters on the run but miss the goals completely.

Just read through this thread in its entirity and feel like I have an obvious solution to the issue of getting a team like richmond or west coast to challenge for a flag in their first year.

Teams typically run on confidence and form (Melbourne gunned the first few rounds and then have lost a bunch in more recent times, Richmond are on a bit of a run at the moment, Adelaide are on a run etc). So if you were to implement a form multiplier that is applicable to all players on a certain team (when they win, say, 3-6 games in a row), which would increase their statistics by 10-20% as a unit, this -coupled with general improvement over a season - would allow a team like Richmond, who would have players mostly 70s/100 to get up to 84 overall if they won a few games to realistically challenge a team like Geelong.
I'm sure this has already been suggested, but i feel this would be the best solution (or the one I'd personally like to see implemented) to that internal debate.
